Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion

If it changes the throttle map, it probably would only make it rev a little faster with slightly less foot pressure.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

9 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I've read that ziptying the yellow button above the clutch pedal improves shifting. Is this true and what are the pros and cons behind it.

POST 2Original post

Have you been reading "Porsche maintenance for Dummies?"

Where exactly did you read that? When you make a statement like that it is helpful to include a link

POST 5Original post

Thanks for the link I guess if it is on the internet it must be true If it changes the throttle map, it probably would only make it rev a little faster with slightly less foot pressure. Minimal if any performance change in shifting IMHO, don't mess with mother nature I guess all the engineers at Porsche are dummies And don't start a rath of crap about IMSB

POST 6Original post

That's one of the oldest old-skool 996 mods around. Those who have done it swear by it. I read about that mod right after I bought my 996 but never really got around to trying it - I don't really have any complaints about how my '99 functions, so I didn't bother with this or clutch "helper" spring mod...

POST 7Original post

Never bothered trying it but my understanding is that switch tells the DME to retard timing when it detects the clutch pedal is depressed thus softening the shock to the clutch/drive train when the clutch is engaging. Kinda like a clutch delay valve in BMW.

POST 8Original post

Isn't that switch to disengage cruise control if the clutch pedal is depressed, so the engine RPM doesn't shoot up to stratosphere?

POST 9Original post

Quotes source post: 12722736

Yes, that's another purpose of the switch so messing with it will also affect your cruise control.
