Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My sunroof switch appears to be recessed too far into the overhead panel - a PO may have pushed it too hard. It still works but can be difficult to close the roof. I tried to pry the switch out to the original location but it just pushes back up into the panel when pressed. I assume I need to remove the overhead panel to get appropriate access to the switch however I don't want to break the panel during removal. Does the entire panel snap off or are there fasteners in hiding? I was able to remove the rear clips of the panel but then could not get the middle or front to release. TIA

POST 2Original post

I had this happen too. If memory serves me well, I think you remove the oval "sensor" covers to gain access to fasteners. May need to unplug electrical connectors also ... its been a while ...

POST 3Original post

I think this ^^^ and remove the overhead light. It pops out and I think there are some screws there.

POST 4Original post

racesx has it right. My sunroof switch did the same thing. It turned out to be broken plastic tabs for me. I ran with a ghetto-MacGuyver fix combining some scrap plastic and krazy glue. Totally invisible from underneath and has held for a year now.

POST 5Original post

Ironically this happened to me last week. I pushed the switch to pop up the roof and I pushed the dang switch into the leather surround. Are there tabs on the plastic switch that have broken requiring a new switch or can the existing switch be repositioned correctly and all is right??

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
