Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Maybe I'm not going fast enough or properly using the run-off.

Not to hijack the thread (that's like saying no offense right before you are offensive) but how does track use beat up on the film or the headlight.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi guys,
What is the preferred method of keeping the headlight covers from yellowing over time? I was thinking of picking up the 3M film but wanted to hear your thoughts.
Thanks,
Grant
They do protect the headlights and mine are clear after 12 years.
One problem though, The film does get beat up over the years especially if you track the car. You may need to occasionally replace the film.
My problem is that the heat from the lights has made the film a permanent fixture after so many years. I have not been able to remove the film.
If anyone has any ideas here I'm all ears.

Not to hijack the thread (that's like saying no offense right before you are offensive) but how does track use beat up on the film or the headlight. I always wonder why people tape up their headlights for the track. When I'm on the track I'm on a really smooth surface driving from 20-100mph for a few 20-minute sessions a day. Going to and from the track I'm logging two hours at a steady 80mph. It would seem as though the greatest risk of rocks and chips would be from highway driving. Has anyone had a rock kick up and strike a headlight on the track with enough force to break it? If so would a film prevent that? Maybe I'm not going fast enough or properly using the run-off.
Are you guys on a rally or something?
^^ I've had rocks thrown up and broken my windshield while on the track. Tracking a car results in a lot of debris thrown at the car while following another car at very high speed several feet in front of you. Dirt, sand, gravel, rubber (lots of rubber as if it's raining rubber on occasion). Look at any dedicated track car's front bumper and it'll appear it's been sandblasted by track debris.

I do have the GT Yellow film on my lamps and it protects them well. I rarely burn my headligts so hopefully it'll be no issue removing it if needed.
I personally don't like films and eventually those will also turn yellow, unless you park it in the garage all the time.
Headlights are easy enough to remove and drop off at the paint place for clear coat paint(after polish). Another option to think about.
I have the Xpel film on my headlights. Granted my car is garaged at home and work plus my track schedule has been reduced substantially but it still looks as good as day 1.
As I recall, it is the adhesive that turns yellow and these have improved over the years. With that said, the longest I've had Xpel on a car is 4 years now and it is mostly garaged.
