Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Just wondering if anyone has a part number for an oil funnel that screws on the oil filler tube. Thanks, SV

POST 2Original post

OH, man you scared me. When I read your heading, first thing that came to mind was that you had dropped a screw down the oil funnel. Yikes.

Pic? Is it a genuine part, i'm intrigued

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Here is an example for a Subaru: https://amzn.to/2Jjql7d It threads onto your oil filler neck, so that you don't need to hold it in place while you pour oil.

POST 5Original post

It doesn't exist for 996 but I would like to hear otherwise. You can probably make one easily with a spare oil filler cap and a funnel. With your capability, I expect one made from CNC using billet aluminum I'm only half joking. Bonus if you can make one that holds a 1qt oil bottle in place without straining the oil filler tube.

POST 7Original post

Neat idea but I just pop the filler neck out of the metal clip thats connected to the air box. It lifts it up just enough to act like a makeshift funnel.

POST 8Original post

I bought a plastic funnel from AutoZone, measured the oil filler pipe center section, then cut the plastic funnel tube to fit tightly in the oil filler pipe. I don't even have to unsnap the oil filler pipe from the air box now just to add some oil. Works great for pouring in 5 quart containers at oil change time as well. No fuss no muss.

Original oil filler pipe had a big open hole. New oil filler pipe has a center piece with a small hole. Very difficult to pour oil into the little center hole. Thus funnel ^^

POST 10Original post

Hey all, So just kicking this thread off again as i have the same leaking seal which was found when making the smoke test. So question is what type of seal should be used? Is it single lipped or double lipped? WIth or without spring? SKF version was sitting at 52 GBP each!!! So not sure if I want to go down the ALiExpress route just yet.. Anyhow any advice on what type of seal it should be? Cheers Alex

POST 11Original post

I use this https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/vw-...ls-kit-7485kt1 . I have adapters for my S4 and Alltrack. I would buy an adapter for a 996 if it existed.

I do the same. I precariously balance the quart vertically to get every drop.

POST 14Original post

Hey just realised that my question went to the totally wrong thread😒 my question is directed at a thread regarding the injection system on the 964. good reading anyway about the filler😀 Cheers Alex

I always end up having to wipe up an oil drip....wish this was available 25 years ago, but better late than never, just ordered one, thanks..

POST 17Original post

I have found that the hole in the middle of the fill tube is the perfect size for the oil bottle. Just stick it in, and go open the next bottle of oil as the one in the fill tube is draining.

POST 18Original post

Yeah I didn't think this would need to be a product either... an Autozone funnel fits well in the filler spout that you won't spill anything out.
