I recently found out that my 996.1 is suffering intermix. My early symptoms were poor cooling performance, and latterly a lot of white smoke from the exhaust. I have since parked the car and need to consider my options. Much of what I seeing appears to be covered in this video: https://youtu.be/p4NHv2izv6g?si=hpF6ZJcO1WKF1tSW I wanted to ask what other people's experiences have been, with either a rebuild (partial or full), or deciding to sell the car as a roller.

Do you see oil in your coolant? Do you see coolant in your oil? Do you have both? Or Neither? It could be a bad AOS, which is the best case scenario. It could be a cracked head, which is a medium scenario. It could be a cracked cylinder, which is total rebuild scenario.

Thanks everyone for the feedback. I've ordered a kit that to test my coolant - should be arriving in a day or two. My local Porsche indy shop was 100% that I have oil in the coolant. Looking back, there was a clue that I didn't catch earlier in the year, when my local shop reported that the coolant didn't look great. At the time we decided to do a coolant flush as we don't know when the coolant was last changed. In retrospect, this was a clue I have plenty of reading and investigating to do.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
