After servicing my 2004 Carrera Cab, my indy tech told me he cleared a few minor faults after scanning with the OBD-II. But the ECU fault would not clear even after disconnecting/reconnecting the battery. There's no "check engine" light and the motor starts, idles and runs perfectly. My indie was loath to dig deeper without any symptoms so we called it a day. What's your take on a persistent ECU fault in a 68K miles, 20 YO 996?

Not all OBDII scanners are the same. Some report faults when there isn't one, and some fail to report certain faults. Try a different brand OBDII scanner, or find someone who has Durametric.
