Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Wanted to post my experience getting my windshield replaced.
1. Had to fight with USAA to get the original Porsche windshield authorized, won that.
2. Had to fight with USAA to get the $375 authorized labor, finally won that, very glad I did!
3. I purchased a Porsche windshield w/no green tint at the top, a frame, and a seal. All about $1200.
4. Call your local P-car dealer and find who they use to replace windshields, you'll be glad you did!
5. The guy that did mine has been doing windshields for 30 years and he's been doing Porsche's almost as long. He said do NOT get the Safelite crap, they will leak and break. Fight with your insurance company!
6. I pulled the windshield wipers and cowl off myself and cleaned everything thoroughly. The installer pulled the pillar trim off the inside passenger side, it was a bear, but he knew exactly what to do to get it off without breaking it. It pays to pay for experience! He knew exactly how to get the rearview mirror off without breaking it. New windshield had the little puck already installed. It pays to get a real Porsche windshield.
Note: I took the opportunity to touch up scratches/chips on the defroster vents! Looks great now!
7. First time I drove it 2 days later the car seemed to be a little quieter. The installer said the newer windshields are better at sound deadening.
8. I had the XPEL 99% tint put on the windshield later that week, love it! Drove around in the sun and it really cuts down on the cooking of the occupants.
Also: the reception on the radio has increased tremendously with the new windshield! I wonder if a wire was broken in the glass?

Antenna connectors - have to pull the trim to get at them.
I'm a llittle confused. You said your installer said do NOT use OEM, but you purchased OEM windshield and seals, etc..???? Obviously I am misunderstanding something..... I will need to pull the trigger and do the same in near future. I have a buddy at Safelite and he says their stuff is just as good and no leaks, etc.... I dunno?
I would've preferred OEM but have a Safelite, it's optically clear even with polarized sunglasses on BUT I really do get the vibe it'll chip more easily.
Safelite doesn't make windshields. They put in windshields they buy on the open market.
Porsche doesn't make windshields, either. The oem glass is probably made by Sekurit Saint-Gobain.
You may get a Sekurit windshield from Safelite, or any other glass brand. You can always ask.
I woukd try to use a local glass shop when possible.
USAA is not the company they used to be. I'm surprised they even insured your car. When I called in to insure my '99 they laughed and said no. I'm a 40 year member!
How did you get USAA to cover you? They refused to cover my 99 911 and said I had to go to a classic car provider which they gave the name and # of.
That said they did cover a 03 Z06 vette I had. I got T-boned in 2012 with 12,000 mi. on the car and they wanted to give me the blue book. I argued a car like that with just over 1,000 miles / yr
is worth more than 9 year old blue book. They would not budge. With the classic car insurance I had on the 911 I got to pick my salvage value. Much better way to go IMHO
