Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Ive had little luck trying to determine whether or not I can replace just the broken piece or the entire assembly. I can only find an eBay seller that has one for $500! I dont know if the motor is working or not but it doesnt look damaged. Can I just get the switch? Anyone got a 3D printer? This costs 500 used. Can this be replaced?

Sunset Porsche is showing brand new ones for $471. Not sure if they are actually available though. 1999-2005 Porsche 911 Catch SUPERSEDES 996-561-017-01-A09 | Sunset Porsche Parts

POST 4Original post

So I am running into the same problem. Apparently the plastic "fingers" inside of the assembly are broken which is causing the microswitches not to work properly - with mine it ends up deploying the hook early. My local shop said the part is no longer available and the updated version is 5 different parts that total about $1,500 - which is crazy. I have looked up those parts online for closer to $1,000 but that is still insane. It appears 996-561-017-01-A09 is the correct NOS replacement part and is in stock at some places for ~$500, but I can't get a straight answer on if that is correct/complete? Any insights?
