I did the bumper plug thing too, and use a tow hook mounted plate relocator for when I need to show a plate (which is almost never)

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I recently bought a 2004 911 C4S Cabriolet. The front bumper has two square holes to hold a front license plate. The car did not come with the mounting hardware (white plastic clips and screws to mount a license plate holder). I contacted my local Porsche dealer, and for everything, including the license plate holder and screws, they were asking for $125. Way more than I was expecting. I think the important part to get are the white clips and screws. Any idea where you can find these that will fit the pre drilled square holes? Any chance Home Depot or Lowes would carry them? Thanks

POST 2Original post

When I pulled my front bracket off, I had the square holes in my bumper also. I still have everything stored away and can send you pictures to see if it's what you need. I'll never re-install a front plate on my car again so I'm willing to part with it and help you out. Once I get home from work I'll try and get some pics once I find what box it's in... I'm packing up for a move so I've got **** everywhere.

Man, that is awesome, I appreciate that.

POST 4Original post

If he can't find his, I should have a front plate kit laying around somewhere as well that I'd let go for free.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I really appreciate that! Will let you know if he can’t find his kit

POST 6Original post

I took mine off, put bumper plugs in the holes and never looked back. Not sure how strict your region is on front plates but I've always hated them and never run them. There's a local bodyshop here that will fill them and respray for about $300. Definitely worth it IMO. https://bumperplugs.com/bumperplugs/...gs-for-porsche

Parts prices have been been going nuts but that still seems high. Try Sunset, Sonnen or Gaudin.

POST 8Original post

Haha I have one sitting in my garage too. I ordered Bumperplugs the day that I picked up my 996.

POST 9Original post

Driven over 40k miles without NJ required front plate without issue. I carry the front plate under passenger floor mat and if ever pulled over will claim i removed it to get front resprayed and havent put it back on yet.

POST 10Original post

I did the bumper plug thing too, and use a tow hook mounted plate relocator for when I need to show a plate (which is almost never) I bought this kit from US MIllworks

If you get pulled over it probably won't be for no front plate...😜

I carry a fake email with my registration and insurance card so I can show it to a cop if I'm pulled over. The email is from the 'dealer' and says that I'm ordering a bracket but it's coming from Germany.

I hope the email is dated from at least 5+ years ago...., surely the bracket has been on backorder all this time.

POST 17Original post

I got pulled over for speeding. I was really nice and respectful He only gave me a ticket for no front plate!! Found out court costs are $96 plus whatever fine I get!! I'm gonna fight it My front plate got a little dinged up Im going to bring it to court and show the judge. Tell him it just got broken off the holder in a parking lot. Hope it works.

Huge shout out to NE1N-11 for sending me the front bumper plate holder and hardware. He sent for just shipping charges, definitely a stand up guy. It definitely looks a little worse with the plate on, but the meter maids will ticket for no front license plate here, so have to have it, and front bumper already had the square holes in it, so at least it covers those. Thanks again to NE1N-11!
