Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

10 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I think I enjoy detailing and cleaning my 996 as much as I enjoy driving the thing. This summer I completed a 2 stage paint correction and ceramic coating and used the educational videos Larry Kosila from AMMO NYC puts together as a guide for tips and techniques. This guy is next level nerd with this stuff so I identified with it quite well. He recently did a black C4S that proved to be one of the more challenging jobs he did. Check it out: You Tube

POST 3Original post

I like what he says about give attention to an area. Then the next wash give attention to another area. This is how to improve a car deep down / inside and out.

POST 4Original post

After I spent 6 weeks detailing my car to the nth degree, now every time I wash it I try to bring it back to that same level of cleanliness. Doesn't take but about 40 minutes longer, and the results are it stays ready for a concours!

POST 5Original post

Larry and Kevin are pretty smart dudes. I like how they make a point to say there is only so much you can do sometimes but there are areas you can make it up in. I feel like a lot of people see paint-corrected cars online that are "perfect" but the reality is it isn't always achievable for a variety of reasons. I've had my fair share of problematic paint and sometimes you just can't keep going due to potential damaging of the clear coat or the customer has a certain budget they want to stay within.

You hit the nail on the head right there! Larry often talks about the chase of perfection which, like you said, can get you into trouble if you go too far and end up with burn spots. Personally, I feel clean cars drive better and going through a process of a wash with a beer or two is very healthy for the noggin. Come spring, I'll probably throw the car up on the quickjacks and do a deep clean with wheels off and probably pull the under covers to go over things there.

POST 7Original post

The car in the video is actually mine, and watching what Larry and company did to a 996 with worn paint was nothing short of amazing. I've known Larry since before he started in the business and to say that he reinvented it by using education through video would be an understatement. The car looks almost new as the level of detail they went through just blew me away. He is truly one of the best in the business. Also, if you haven't followed his YT Channel, you need to as it's an amazing resource for everything car care. https://www.youtube.com/c/AMMONYCdotcom

Hah! No way - Mr. Musto! Larry is definitely a detailing legend and love his approach to the process and sharing the knowledge. Hope you got the car nice and dirty driving it back home

POST 9Original post

Oh I did . And I'll be the first to say that car care (waxing and detailing) is not my speciality, thus, I always find it hilarious when he sees one of my cars in person. He generally yells at me for at least 20-mins, tells me to get out of the way, and then proceeds to do some sort of quickie detail while at the same time cursing my name. In truth though, he's one of the best humans I know.

POST 10Original post

I need to try the technique he used to clean the rubber around the windows. Mine is starting to show its age. I also like the tip about hacking up the brushes for different jobs. Such a simple thing to do, but never occurred to me.
