Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

ok, well i have talked to many of the salespeople at local Los Angeles Porsche dealers and each one of them seems to have their own different opinion on availbility of the 2002. some say "pre-order today or no 2002 996 till next spring". others say "give us a $5000 deposit and we guarantee october-november delivery".
im sure many of you have experience with this type of situation. should i put down a deposit, or can i just stroll into the dealership come October and have my Porsche within a month?
thanks
Shant
I recently put my deposit down on my 2002 996 C2 coupe. The dealer stated that my car is an October allocation/build month. Delivery is scheduled for December. The 02’s that are being order now and are set for Sept/Oct delivery only have only three color options. According to my dealer October is the first month that the 02 996’s will be available with 17 colors and multiple other options. If you want a C2 coupe I would put your deposit down and begin the long wait.
my dealership in dubai informed me that they will be receiving a lot of 2002 cars. That is why they are selling their 2001 models at such a reduced price...they need the showroom space. however, my situation is probably very different from CA.
Dubai is a city-state in United Arab Emirates, right at the South-eastern tip of Saudi Arabia. since it is so small, hardly anyone has heard of it in the states or europe. however, recently it has been comming up in the news becuase of its tourist industry and their hotels (they have a hotel build on a man made island of the coast).
I have heard of Dubai, and even know something about it.
But since Porsche cars in the USA and Canada are imported by Porsche Cars North American (PCNA), and in the middle east are imported by a completely different company which has a different relationship with Porsche AG in Germany than ANY other importer in the world, any comparison about car availability between the two makes no sense what-so-ever.
My local Porsche dealer has exactly 2 new MY2001 996/911's on the lot. I doubt they will have any MY2002 on the lot until summer of next year.
it is true that you can't compare one country with another.i think it has something to do with the allocation per country.i paid my deposit for a c4 cab yesterday, even though i spoke to the importer about ordering the car before.i have been told that my car will be produced in sept, and i expect delivery in oct.As it happens there is only one dealer in Turkey (population 70 million) and that is also the importer
I live in New York City and placed my order for a 2002 C2 cab two weeks ago and am on the October built for delivery in November. My dealer has an allocation of 6 cabs for the October production. Another dealer in the NYC area showed me the monthly allocations for all the dealers in the region for each model (C2 coupe, cab, tip and turbo) and some dealers get only one or two cars a month or even none for some models for some months. So a lot of the availability and wait will be determined by the allocation that the dealer enjoys from Porsche USA
