Finally installed the used Porsche OEM cat, and no more codes for the Cat bank 2; I took off a new DEC cat that constantly threw codes every 40 km.

I now feel it's better to change both cats at once, unless you are replacing one OEM cat with the same equipment, like I did.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

9 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi. I'm looking to buy a used factory Cat for my 02/ C4S/ right side/bank 2 reasonably priced.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

$150. for both sides. Bank 2 was good, and Bank 1 was loose inside like my bad cat. So now I have a pair of good and a pair of bad. I'll sell the bad cats for metal recycling. The whole purpose of the excercise is to see if the factory Cat stops the PO 430 code. I bought a DEC cat and the code comes up every 40 miles after a reset. Grrrrrr.......

Did you get these from a dismantler? That's a great price. Thanks

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yes it was a good price; got them from a local Porsche owner (04 C4s); he put on Fabspeed a year or so ago, and was just sitting on them; started at $600. but slowly moved down to clean up his garage. Turns out I knew his father, small world sometimes.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I might add, that I have seen them quite often for $300-600 ea., but usually too far. I am looking for a cheap set of 996 mufflers in descent shape to send to California for a "Fister" mod. Also prices are in $CAD.

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Finally installed the used Porsche OEM cat, and no more codes for the Cat bank 2; I took off a new DEC cat that constantly threw codes every 40 km. (approx. 20mi.) Boring. I now feel it's better to change both cats at once, unless you are replacing one OEM cat with the same equipment, like I did. I believe that when the cats are different cell count, they they have different resistance to exhaust flow, and therefor an unbalanced exhaust. Just my opinion.
