Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I think underneath the side skirt it is coated, but the side skirt is not, at least on my car and the skirts were a factory installed option

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hello there.
I have a 2001 black coupe and it seem to have some sort of gravel rocker applied to it's rocker panels. After a chat with a local enthuasiast he told me that this is normal and they were all "like that ".
Any comments?
... You mean like for rallying? Well they did use 911s for rallying at one point.

Perhaps a point of confusion? He's not talking about stuff like a metal plate sump guard, but a coating on the rocker panels that makes them chip/corrosion resistant. And yes, my 2002 has it too.
I believe you are referring to the orange peel thicker paint on the rocker panel area. If so that is how it's supposed to be. JayG i thought all of them came with that coating with or without the optional factory rocker panels. Maybe the PO had it resprayed?
Yes I do - orange peel coating that covers the rockers panels.
Glad to know it's original.
But why on some 996s I see around the web the rockers seem to "shine" same way like the rest of the car. Mine are dull looking.
How about yours?
I'm not talking about side skirts, I dont't have them. But the original metal body panel. I remmember seeing some that seems to have gloss on them, like the reste of the body.
