Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

And yes to ABS and PSM - which I have traced to a faulty $14 switch (I've made this repair before).

Suggestion

I would have to do a little research but the vss is basically set by the abs sensors at each wheel.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My 996 threw this code a week ago; from what I can glean from the Internet, it's a VSS - Vehicle Speed Sender. Does anybody here have input on how I should go about correcting this and should I be in panic mode or "just another day with a 996 mode"? Thanks in advance.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

De Jeep, It is a 2003 996 coupe with a proper 6-speed manual gearbox.

POST 4Original post

I would have to do a little research but the vss is basically set by the abs sensors at each wheel. Do u have any abs codes or if u have psm do u have any errors there too. If i had to guess i would say u have a bad wheel sensor and a shop scanner or a durametric can monitor the signals while driving and determine which one has the issue.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thank you De Jeeper; this solidifies my plan to get a proper Durametric device. And yes to ABS and PSM - which I have traced to a faulty $14 switch (I've made this repair before).

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I just bought the Durametric Pro Kit from Pelican Parts.
