Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. This is not a probability of success.

In addition to the items worth taking pictures of, here's the other goodies I've installed since I got the car:

I'll climb in the time machine back to acquisition, and try to fill in with some notes/quick reviews on the items I've installed thus far, and then we can keep it going with whatever is next!

As I approached driving age in the late 90's, I started helping him detail his cars and doing some light wrenching (oil changes, trim and minor mechanical work).
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Approaching my 18th month of ownership, I've finally done enough to my 996 that I think it's time for a build thread! I've started small, with general maintenance and upgrades to items that needed replacement for aesthetics, reliability, and in certain cases just because it looks better! I'll climb in the time machine back to acquisition, and try to fill in with some notes/quick reviews on the items I've installed thus far, and then we can keep it going with whatever is next!
As a little background, I grew up around the hobby; my dad is a Pontiac guy so I was too...to start. I attended the National POCI convention with him (almost) every year from about 5 to 20 years old, so car shows and meets were my first exposure. As I approached driving age in the late 90's, I started helping him detail his cars and doing some light wrenching (oil changes, trim and minor mechanical work). He had started attending PCA and BMWCCA track days at Nelson's Ledges and Mid-Ohio with his 1996 Firebird Formula (fully track prepped Pontiac prototype race car with a Lingenfelter engine dialed in by John Lingenfelter himself, with well over 500HP), and if I wasn't hooked into the hobby already (...I was), that was the nail in the coffin. I may have grown up a Pontiac guy by osmosis, but being at the track around 964, 993, and the then brand new 996 generation Porsches sparked my desire for "someday" ownership. Specifically, an aero-kitted 996 was the dream. Once I got my license and was able to start attending Drivers Ed track days with him, participating in Solo2 Auto-X'ing with SCCA, and some bracket racing titles at the POCI convention Drag Days in 2002 (Stock class in my dad's 1992 Typhoon) and 2005 (in his 2004 GTO).
Fast forward through college, marriage, kids, career, and I finally reached the point in late 2021 that I was starting to look for my first "toy" car. It was going to be an e36 M3 (Estoril Blue or bust!) or a 996.1 (Aerokit, Manual, and anything that wasn't black/white/silver), and it was probably going to be whichever one turned up first. As a habitual Bring A Trailer watcher, I'd seen a couple cars pass by that would have been great options, and my timing couldn't have been worse as we were probably at the top of the market in late 2021. And then....my car popped up. I'd never seen Vesuvio Metallic before, but as soon as I did I had to have it. I had a good experience with BAT and my seller (besides maaaaaybe underselling some of the paint blemishes and a driver's side window regulator that immediately went bad on me), but other than that the car was as expected. I started making my parts wish list, so let's get to the pictures since they will say it better than I can write it!

Installed a Blackforest Industries alcantara shift boot to replace the stiff and crusty OEM boot. Great upgrade, not pricey, took about 45 minutes. Totally worth it.
I picked up a set of Enkei Speedline RC5 wheels from Projekt EPiK off the Rennlist classifieds late last year, and finally got them mounted and installed. Went with Falken Azenis RT615K+ in 235/40/18 up front and 265/35/18 in the back. They look awesome in the Porsche White Gold, thanks Jeff!

In addition to the items worth taking pictures of, here's the other goodies I've installed since I got the car:
Numeric Racing Shortshift Kit and Cables
Acer Racing Titanium Lug Bolts (the originals were nasty looking)
Rennline Stainless Steel Brake Lines with Motul 600RBF fluid
That's a really nice color on the 996. Definitely unique.
I have the same wheels on my C4. Where did you get yours refinished? It looks like they were done properly.
My BBS Sport Designs were refinished by Quest Wheels in Cleveland (via Steinels while I was having various service done during the first winter after I bought the car).
Best color, great looking car and I dig the wheels, if was lowered it would be perfect aesthetically. Don't dig a 265 rear though, is that stock size ?
Yes, was the same as stock. I like the slightly stretched look in the back, and when I finally get around to putting on coil overs it will hopefully give just a little extra room to avoid any rubbing if I hit a bump.
