So, I�ve followed various threads on faults in 996�s regarding locking and unlocking the doors. My 996 will unlock using the key fob, but locking it after exiting the car requires manual use of key; unlocking works fine with the key fob. The issue is locking the car: if I wait 20-30 minutes after turning off/exiting the car, the key fob WILL lock the door. Weird. Any ideas as to what is the fault? I�ve reset usual software faults, no changes found.

Cabriolet? Sunroof? If so, check for moisture under the driver seat. That's where the immobilizer lives. Dumb, I know but it can get wet and act weird. For the car to be able to receive tells me that it's working. Good luck. IF it is wet, then you have a few things to address.
