Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

21 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi everyone.... as everyone is celebrating Christmas, and I'm home alone since my wife is working as an ICU -nurse ( no holidays for them ), I thought I'd take the time to tell the story of how I became the owner of a nice youngtimer, the 996 4s :-) A few months ago, i was looking for an older Porsche to invest some money in...i looked at a 1976 SC, which was beautifully restored, but discovered I couldn't fit in it properly ( I'm 6'7" )... that attention shifted to a 1990 964 convertible, which did work size-wise, but I didn't like the way it drove :-/. In the mean time I started reading about all the 911's, their changes over the years, the change in looks etc.... and I came accross the 996 4s. On car meetings, the curvy behind of the car always stood out for me, but the car was always dismissed as the failure among 911's. But price-wise, they were affordable, so i started reading more about this particular model and eventually decided it didn't matter if the purists didn't see it as a "proper" 911. I liked it, the looks, the interior AND I fit in it properly, even with the sunroof :-) Sourced the internet for some candidates, following forums to see who's 4s would come up for sale etc.... and came accross the car I eventualy bought while on holidays. the previous owner needed the space and the money for his business, and lowered his price considerably over the course of a few months ( 2nd hand car market is on it's butt here ). I mailed him that I'd be home on Friday, and that I could come by on Saturday and that -if satisfied- I'd give him the asking price. When The reply came, it said the car had been sold :-(.... 2 days later I see the same car for sale by a car-dealer, asking 6000,- euro's more ( 8000 USD ). I got the storynof the car from the rpevious owner and went to see the car dealer and let him do his sales pitch ( which was honest ). I had a PPI done by a Porsche specialist and it came back even better than expected :-) I asked him how much he wanted to make in a week, by cleaning the car .... surprised he said : come again ?! I told him he had bought it from under my nose, and that I knew what he paid for it. I offered him 2000,- more, taking the car 'as is', no warranty, no nothing, just drive it away... and he agreed :-) in the mean time I called all the dealerships the car received servicing in, and they are sending me the records of what has been done to the car, so I will have a complete history of the car. It's solid, no crashes, well taken care of and I feel like I made a steal :-) The car has 129000km's/80k miles , and will go in for the IMS replacement bearing from LN, a cooling system modification and a general big maintenance once it is registred. And then bring on springtime, so I can enjoy driving it :-) Pics will follow...the Ipad app doens't work for some reason, so I'll have to do it from my pc. edit : pics added https://rennlist.com/forums/attachme...1&d=1419509549 https://rennlist.com/forums/attachme...1&d=1419509549 https://rennlist.com/forums/attachme...1&d=1419509549 https://rennlist.com/forums/attachme...1&d=1419509549

C4S is a great car - been enjoying mine - welcome to the club!

POST 10Original post

As a fellow 996 C4S owner I am, of course, biased. But that's a GREAT looking car -- congratulations. Drive it often and hard!

POST 12Original post

Car looks great. As a fellow C4S owner (2005), I'm curious about the interior. What do you have hanging on the passenger side vent? Also, what is the bracket for next to the radio/climate control (left of glove box)? Enjoy the car!

POST 15 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 11906468

Thanks :-) the previous owner had an air-freshner on the vent. That's gone now :-) the bracket in the right has a iPhone4 cover which will be removed as well... Probably will try to source the original handset that came with the car, just to get it back to original.

POST 16Original post

This is a great looking C4S, love the interior. I have an 04 Cab. Welcome to the club, and what a great story on your find.

POST 17 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hey Bernard... yeah, thanks..saw your video contribution on the 996 4s facebook group :-) I'm currently on holiday, and as much as I enjoy it, can't wait to get home, register the 996 and start playing with it... hope it'll be a mild winter again.

Great looking car Oscar! Congratulations ans welcome

POST 19Original post

Beautiful car! From the last photo, looks like the spoiler was stuck in the up position when they had it sitting on the showroom floor. Hopefully you had them fix that for you before you took possession of the car, otherwise some guys on here might accuse you of being an Aero kit poseur.
