Reported fix
I fixed corrosion problems with the connectors, cleaned up the microswitches on the flaps and drained/refilled fluid.

Does anyone know how to repair the lever for the limit switch?

Plus the steps in the repair manual have to be followed precisely.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Can the switch lever be replaced for the front convertible top latch? Or does the whole latch have to be replaced? Mine is cracked in the center and no longer spring loaded.
where can you get the plastic cover for the hook?
are you talking about the micro switch under the catch for the convertible hook? If you change out the plastic cover for the hook that will give the hook enough length to activate the switch.

I apologize for the late reply. I am needing to fix the switch lever that is apart of the latch. It's the one the guy has is finger on in the photo I posted.
What exactly is happening? The lever is not spring loaded but is on a geared drive mechanism. Is the lever cracked or just the cover? Perhaps you could take a picture of your latch or, even better, a short video of what is happening.
generally speaking when the top closes
1. the clamshell opens
2 the top starts to close
3. the latch hook extends while the top is closing
4 when the top is closed the latch hook grabs the catch and pulls tight sealing the top
5. the clamshell closes
6 the windows roll up.
If the plastic cover for the hook is broken, in my case, the hook grabbed the catch but then released the catch and the windows did not roll up. You can test if this is the issue by pushing in the microswitch in the catch for the hook with a pencil when the hook catches and pulls tight. this will stop the hook from releasing and let the windows roll up.
Top goes up and down fine. When going up to close, the latch starts to close before in position to latch properly. I have to pull it down a bit to get it to latch up front.
Hold on, what you're describing is more than the plastic cover that goes over the hook. All that does is depress the microswitch. The actual hook is part of a larger mechanism that's a PITA to maintain and/or replace. Don't believe me? I repaired mine and it was expensive and I learned a whole bunch about how it operates all together. Check this out:

So this car needs 2 possibly three repairs.
1) recalibrate
2) hook cover
3) lever repair? The lever is on the latch and is spring loaded. It sits right above the hook. This one is cracked in the middle and no longer spring loaded. I assumed it also was apart of a switch. Not sure on this though.
there is no part to buy that I could find. I ended up replacing the whole thing. However since its plastic you might be able to weld it back together. Just dont try JBWeld because it doesnt work.
If the top is able to close and latch properly with just a little manual repositioning at the end than you shouldn’t need to replace anything. You just need to calibrate it so everything happens at the right time and position in the cycle.
If you can’t get your top to close and latch with a little "help" than something else is going on.
the lever you are talking about is called the latch hook. When you position the top correctly does it
1. Deploy from the body of the latch mechanism (the black triangle in the front center of the roof)
2. Grab the catch located on the windshield
3. Pull the top tight
if it does all those things it is working properly. If not where is it failing?
Definitely. Once things get out of sync, it's required.

Where can I get piwis? The link below mentions a version that is $2k. The website,

, in that thread below wants $3k to $7k for a kit.
