Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Got high idle going on. Is it a vacuum leak?

POST 3Original post

Yes, most probably a vacuum leak. Or a stuck throttle cable if your car has one

POST 4Original post

Obviously. So tempting to leave it at that, giving you as little information as you gave us. What year is your car? When did it start, did you do any work on the car, how high is high, is it rough, or just high, any leaks, smells, sounds, smoke, etc? any CEL? Does it run okay at higher rpms? Have you looked in the engine at all? Did you do any troubleshooting?

POST 5Original post

Quotes source post: 18097447

Well, its a 2002 C4. I have a generic reader that I use to clear all codes. It runs fine for a awhile. The rpms slowly increase as I drive to around 1700. No oil leaks smoke , or anything else. Been doing this since last year. Ive put a new MAP sensor on it last year because it was running a little rough. Its just high idle now. Is this a common thing? Does it usually happen in a certain area I can look? I have other issues Im trying to fix also. The climate control throws heat but not ac. Changed the blend door motor and checked the Freon. All good. Every once in a while it blows cold for a minute then goes hot. Any ideas here? Thank you for input.

POST 6Original post

First thing...do an Egas calibration. Turn ignition key to ON (not START). Do not touch the accelerator pedal. Wait 60 seconds with key in the ON position. Turn ignition key OFF. This will re-calibrate the Egas throttle body. How did you check your freon? Take your car to an AC expert (or maybe a Porsche dealership shop). Have the entire AC system flushed and re-filled with the proper amount of freon and oil. .This truly is a specialist job. You say you clear codes. What codes?

POST 7Original post

Also the non porsche maf sensor is know to be an issue. If u didnt spend $500 on it, it still may be your issue.

POST 8Original post

The guys asked some good questions and gave some thoughts. What do the codes say? Did you use an OEM MAF sensor? Did you try to reset the throttle? Is it only at idle when you first start the car when cold or also when hot after its warmed up? Out of curiosity, have you removed the oil cap while the car is idling and if so what happens? See if you can answer these questions and I am sure we can give you more to help direct you. Also, don't be shy about the service history of the car. All info helps. Member like the info.

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Would you rule out the climate control ?

POST 10Original post

Quotes source post: 18098959

Rule it out for what?

POST 11 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 18098862

It only idles when its cold or I clear code. Warm or cold. I can't remember the code # as I was fighting it last fall before I stored it. I just got it out last week and drove for a little. Had no codes but a high idle when I shut it down. You mentioned oil cap. Couple years ago the filler tube cracked. I siliconed it up the best I could and ordered a new one. Haven't put it on yet as I have a supercharger on it and it is going to be a time consuming project. Maybe That is where my vacuum leak is?

POST 12 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 18098968

That the climate control is defective? If I only get heat.

POST 13Original post

You need to address one issue at a time. Fix the oil filler pipe. Probably the cause of the vacuum leak. Next time you get a code, write it down. Did you do the Egas calibration? Next, run the engine and leave the AC off. Then, while watching the AC compressor in the engine bay, turn the AC on and see if the compressor engages. The electromagnetic clutch should engage. Have you checked fuses and relays for the AC circuit? You've got some work to do.

POST 14Original post

Mark, You just added another dimension with a supercharger. Best advice I can give you is that you have a 20 year old car. Because of this, everyone one of your plastic and rubber parts on the car are slowly deteriorating. You may want to consider focusing on the plastic/rubber engine parts first, including replacing your oil filler tube asap. If you still have a vacuum leak, you should check your Aos. What makes this tough is that you don't answer the questions and those that you do answer have only bits and pieces of info. My suggestion is that you go thru this thread and and fully answer the questions and tell us about your car. No worries if you don't want too, but it makes it very difficult for us to help you. And we all want to help in some way. Best of luck.

POST 15Original post

Next we're gonna find out it actually has a Hellcat motor in it. #tinydetails

POST 17Original post

The problem is I don't know. I have had this car for 3 years now probably put 1000 miles on it. I have a few bugs that I need to fix. I was hoping some of these bugs were very common so there would be an easy answer. That's all.

POST 18Original post

Quotes source post: 18100617

Unfortunately your particular setup is very uncommon, so any common issues are not necessarily applicable to you.

POST 19Original post

3 yrs. and 1000 mi. That pretty much says it all Did you have the supercharger put on it, or did you buy it that way? If you bought it that way, did it idle properly when you bought it? Its difficult to troubleshoot anything without a baseline for comparison. As mentioned earlier, superchargers are pretty rare on the M96 - my Tec would be to call the manufacturer and see if they have any installers/specialists in your area good luck

Truer words have never been spoken. Mods can be amazing when they are working right and downright infuriating when you are having issues. I have spent countless hours chasing electrical gremlins related to mods on my 951, and the instructions for all of those mods have been a life saver. First thing I would recommend, if you haven't already, is get your hands on the install instructions or at the very least do some research on the specific brand/kit to familiarize yourself with the mods and then go from there, or as dporto said find a shop familiar with the mods.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
