Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

9 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi all, my 2002 996.2 with 42k miles leaked some coolant which looks to be coming from the pump. Based on my visual assessment and what I read in the forum, I am 95% it is the pump. Looking for that extra bit of confirmation before I order the new pump/thermostat. Thanks in advance!!! Frank

POST 2Original post

Check the platic junction piece right under the alt pulley. Its a 3/8 coolant line that goes back to the aos. It fails when u look at it wrong.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks De Jeeper, will take a look and report back.

POST 4Original post

Link to a pic of the part. https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/por...4aAieTEALw_wcB

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Looks dry, I was hoping this was it. I remember reading about it when I bought the UAOS which I have yet to install.

POST 6Original post

Francisco, check your service records. If your water pump has never been replaced, it would make sense to do it plus the rubber hoses and plastic bits associated with it that will decay after 20 years. The waterpump is a part that if it goes, you run the risk of hundreds of plastic pieces floating around that can grenade your engine. It's cheap enough and easy enough to replace.

POST 7Original post

If you haven't replaced your water pump in the last 4 or 5 years, go ahead and do it.

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks all, I will be ordering the fuel pump and lower temp thermostat to replace.
