I've replaced the whole piece that the switch fits in (along with the dome lights), and the tabs its supposed to lock into are intact and basically brand new.

Hi All, when I hit the sunroof switch to open the roof, it moves in its place and gets stuck in its mount kind of part way inside the roof. I've replaced the whole piece that the switch fits in (along with the dome lights), and the tabs its supposed to lock into are intact and basically brand new. The switch is new as well, but it just won't stay put when pushing the open side. The close side is much firmer and has no issues. I tried taping it in place to give it a bit more structure but to no avail. Anyone with a tip to keep the switch firmly in place in its mount? Its a 2000 C2 Andrew

If the switch is new, and the console is new, then the console must be defective or broken. I just went through the same replacement, and the switch is 'as new'. However, I did repair the old one using ' J-B Weld 8237 PlasticWeld Plastic Repair Epoxy Putty - 2 oz. J-B Weld 8237 PlasticWeld Plastic Repair Epoxy Putty - 2 oz. ' It looks very crude on the inside, but installed, you do not see it. I had already ordered the new one and did not return it. I suppose sugru may have been suitable as well. Be careful when placing and molding the epoxy that you do not interfere with the switch' ability to move. The epoxy dries very solid. Good luck. I would offer to ship it to you but it's in rough shape externally, the plastics on these old cars gets pretty brittle and worn. Good luck!
