I knew my problem was serious when I blew past the $7,500 mark in upgrade parts...for my HYUNDAI.

This pic was with the supercharger at stage 1 - before I installed the intercooler and upped the boost.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi folks,
Another first Porsche 996 purchased. I couldn't afford anything newer with all the upgrades. I actually paid to much for this car. Not much more to upgrade right. No leaks and can't confirm IMS upgrade so far. Apparently it was done 3 years ago. Missing Owners manuals and spare tire. I love this car especially that the interior and exterior is so clean. What do you think? Any advise?
Mileage 69700

Hertz speakers all around. Sounds breath taking

Boxster Red Interior

GT2 Aero Kit
GT3 18"
FabSpeed muffler
GT2 Exhaust Tips
Evolution Motors Sports Cold Air Intake

Tinted windows
Clear plastic protection on front end
What to I think? If you love it, it was a great price and a great buy. Advice?
Drive it like you stole it
Enjoy it.
Walk back out in the garage and take another peek (again)
Congrats on a nice looking car.
Looks great! Have fun with it. The black wheels look really nice. Personally, I'd lose the GT2 badge on the back, but that's just my opinion.
What color is the interior - is is red?
Looks nice. I'd remove the badge as well. A turbo-look car isn't a turbo...
Don't overdrive the car before you get used to the rear-engine handling. Lots of new 911 owners put them into ditches...don't be that guy!
Looks great, some nice upgrades, not a bad price for the lower miles and up grades, I would think
Oh I guess 69m isn't that low I'm thinking kilometers,
Thanks guys, I don't really care for black wheels. It needs new struts. That would be my first mod. I miss my KW 3's coilovers from my beamer. What is the best struts for the buck or coilovers that would provide a nice ride for the Chicago streets. Something besides expensive KW's. What lettering goes in the rear Carrera or 911? Newbie tupid question one allowed per year right. Is it worth buying the $75.00 owners manuals? What ever happen to the 40.00 spare tire prices?

You can get a PDF of an owner's manual over at Renntech.org. (signup might be required, but it's worth it.)
I wouldn't pay $75 for a manual, but that's just me.
Look for a used set of books from flea bay or ask in classifieds as its always a good idea to have them when a question needs answered. Car looks real nice and as noted dump the rear GT2 badging.
Congrats and welcome neighbor. Damn it seems like we had quite a few new owners from and around Chi-town just this month.
I agree on the GT2. You know these homies and thugs around here are gonna want to race even more if they really think that is a GT2.
Other than that, the only other nit pick would be to straighten out your tail pipes so they are more even. A new set of engine mounts can possibly solve that issue.
The funny thing about the GT2 badge is that anybody who actually knows enough to recognize what GT2 means also knows enough to recognize that the car isn't a GT2.
I think you'd be okay with a badge delete, with a 911 badge or with a Carrera 4 badge. Any of those things would look good without looking like you're trying to be something that you're not...
Didn't you get the memo. There is a Porsche virus going around in Chitown. I did notice one tail pipe is lower than the other. Dam no slack, lol. Engine mount ??? HA. I love this forum. They smirk, point to it, drool, elbow their buddys and look other way. GT2 emblem so far they don't want some of this. What about spare tire. does it come with tools, air generator and jack?
Wow, The GT2 badge is an insult to the Porsche aficionados. I actually converted my 2009 BMW 528 to a M5 look alike and left the 528 badges. That's a good advice go naked go badge less. Save 50 bucks. Pic's on the way. mam oh man you guys have gorgeous cars.
I'm keeping the GT2 cover the way it is. That way when they see the the car covered they will think is a GT2. Boy the previous owner was obsessed with the GT2. Any of you guys have after market coilovers or struts, how about new factory struts?
The previous owner of my car did everything he could to turn it into a GT3 tribute - but he didn't badge it a GT3.
You're in the same boat I'm in - previous owner obviously felt like he bought the wrong car, so he spent a fortune making it look like the right car. Bank error in our favor: collect body kit and spoiler...
I already told the my dealer to count me in when a turbo comes in the 35 to 40,000 price range. Need for speed I'm hooked. I do miss my 1997 Supra 15th Anniversary.
First of all I need to explain to you all that I have a wicked sense of humor. I'm an old young fart that likes to joke around. Please let me know and steer me in the right direction if I stray to far to the right or to the left. But what ever you do please help me with my journey going to Porsche nirvana with advise on where I should go. Be honest and don't sugar coated. Be advised that my English is not to good looking.
Just pulled the trigger on a spare tire. Yes, I know I should had save the money and bought a tire repair kit and some type of instant blow air device. I'm just trying to make the car original with its little red spare tire. I can't believe I said original with the wannabee pocket rocket that I just bought. Actually I'l buy the tire kit just in case for save measure. Even if I use the car just to go to the corner to visit my second home Walgreen's to acquire does little blue pills on Sunday's.
Future Mods:
Coilovers or struts
Sound systems upgrades
Straitened my tail pipes
Isolate some type of muffler vibration
Isolate road noise. Suspect tire or cabin noise.
A sheep in wolf's clothing? Looks nice though it is kind of odd to fake a GT2. Looks like no one warned you that you must keep your 996 pristine pure with OEM parts and no mods. Oh well, sorry.
Your are correct. It just that a stock C2 or any car in its pure form doesn't do it for me. If that was my mine set I would had bought a air cool model and parade it. I like flashiness and exotic. When they see me down the street I want them to say there goes Joe. My dream car is a bat mobile in neon green color. lol
+1. I can appreciate the lines, looks, and value of keeping a car stock. For collector cars that always pays off.
However, I can't resist the temptation to "make it mine".
I feel your pain.

*edit* Here's the final product, intercooled, making ~300HP at the (front) wheels.
Typically (but not always) there is a stamp or etch inside the wheel that says something like: "not original equipment" if it's a replica wheel. Try taking one of your wheels off and having a look. There should also be a Porsche part number inside the wheel if it's genuine.
They will have a part number beginning in "996.xxx...." stamped in the back.
Either way, GT3 rims are on the heavy side which is surprising considering it was made for the GT3.
