Suggestion
The cars would be used for duty also but short and sweet if the policeman in this motor accident did have the same sort of deal or did engine upgrades like a turbo the common sense thing is to bulk up the brakes.

OK.......so I get my alignment done on the car today. Driving thru a sleepy town minding the law. Past town there are some twisty's so I figure I'm gonna check out the new alignment on the new X74 that I put on about 3 weeks ago. Needless to say I got a ticket. I was pissed but this cop who stopped me made my day.
As he hands me the ticket he proceeds to ask me "Is this a Porch or a Camaro?". I say huh? He repeats himself and I tell him it is a Porsche. He says "than why does it say Camaro on the trunk?". I repeated the word Carrera to him 3 times. I laughed my a$$ off.
This is a true story, I can't make this one up!
what and no souvenir camera phone pix.. Come on Pete you're slacken....
You shoudl have asked him "Is your name Buford T Justice" No why? "casue you sure do act as freaking stupid." Some bitch couldnt open an umbrella

did you just say 'sir, yes sir' or you tried to explain.. 'I was testing my new alignment'
I usually stick to the 'sir, yes sir' and look down to the floor. They need to have their kick too !
Lol
Wow another one who can't say the word Carrera...Check out this thread I posted a couple of weeks ago:

Love that story, you Chevy driver!
One day in Oklahoma I got pulled over by an Oklahoma Highway Patrolman, shortly after I got on I35, a northbound stretch of highway. It was near dusk. I had turned on my fog lights to supplement the low beams because I wasn't familiar with that onramp. In short order I was pulled over and given a warning ticket for (get this!) "Illegal use of fowl (sic) weather lights."
I laughed my head off at that dummy later. I looked it up in the OK statutes and determined that the trooper was wrong. With Porsches in those days you couldn't turn on fog lights without the headlights (low beams) being on. The statue said that in order to use JUST the fogs you had to be in poor lighting (visibility). The cars are wired at the factory to be in compliance.
Dummies.
I believe the cop is between the lines saying since you were catchable you are driving like a camaro. A Porsche truely speeding is way different than a mom and pops camaro. He probably had fun telling his crew about the porsche guy he slurred and insulted calling his car a camaro and the funny look on your face while doing it. They know exactly what a camaro is. You could of been a new entry on youtube for a police chase of a 911 since the only one findable is a drunk guy who crashed on a simple onramp.
Yeah, I was pulled over recently after I had ducked into a parking lot when I saw the guy turn his cruiser around (thanks for flagging him down into the lot you nosey old ladies). Anyway the cop said he had gone past the parking lot and a little bit down the road had seen another car that wasn't me, so he knew I had either pulled in somewhere or had blown by that car and was already gone.
So remember folks, if you see a cop come to get you, floor it! You'll get away!
Some years ago a cop (city) approached me while I was parking, he gave me a ticket for no front plate on my 300ZX. On the ticket he wrote Porsche, when I noticed that I laughed. Not to many days later on the highway a cop (RCMP) pulls me over, he was going the opposite way and pulled through the median to get me for no front plate. Explained I had recently recieved a ticket for no front plate, he asked to look at the ticket, I hand it to him, he walks to the front of the car returns and asked how many cars I own, said just the one, he said well this says Porsche, yes I know I replied, you should dispute this he says, gives me a warning for the plate and away I went. Never did have to pay that one.
The Barnie Fife says I was doing 65 in a 35. Didn't realize until later last night that the posted speed in the area is 45. I thought for a second about 'loosing' him but there are not many cars like mine in these parts. The cops here would have every Booger, Cooter, Daryl, Daryl and his other brother Daryl looking for me. I even was thinking of the 70's movie with Peter Fonda driving thru the orange groves in Florida with the Pooo-lice after him but I remembered that this is the Town where John Dillinger was born for cripes sakes and the locals don't take kindly to criminals. I'm a born and bred Cheesehead Yankee living in an area South of Indianapolis that still thinks the wrong side won the civil war.....no offense to my friends south of the Mason-Dixon line.
I'll show up for court and get it reduced. I'm growing a mullet so I can fit in.
in michigan, the local cops are on a rampage and the 5-10 cushion is definitely gone. state troopers are behaving normally. looks like local authorities need the money. ask me how i know
New laws here since this past year, 25 MPH over the legal limit gets your car taken away for a month and fines up to $10,000.00 depending on how much you exceeded the legal limt by. Basically if you are over by the 25MPH you may as well try and outrun them since they are going to take your car anyway!!
Boy I wish we had our heads screwed on right like the German's and their Autobahn!!
Pete
You are incapable of making good/safe choices - the govt needs to make them for you (and they have a LOT of people demanding they make more and more for them)
:rant off:
How many people here have the front plate attached? Mine is in the pocket behind the passenger seat. It just doesn't seem aerodynamic. Have not got pinched yet. Knocking on fake laminate wood.
And the plot thickens..........reviewing the ticket tonite, Mr. policeman wrote the make of the car as a CAMARO!!! Also where he said he saw me 'as stated on the ticket' is different from what he verbally told me.
This ain't over yet!
Getting off on whats on the ticket is up to the judge. The guy can say it was you and the license plate identifier is good enough. That's as far as I've seen for judges reasoning. Basicly if they want the money, they are going to get it. You point out one thing wrong and he might point out you signed it and such. My last ticket was $500 with the judge saying "but the citation says"
I just had my front resprayed, and "sorry officer, but I ordered the new mounting bracket but it hasn't arrived yet" mode. It's only been 3 days for me so far.
I put my front plate on for the annual MA state inspection and take if off again afterwards. Besides being ugly and looking out of place, the thing does not mount securely. I have the OEM license plate mount. On day as I was walking past the front of the car I brushed the plate lightly with my leg, and the plate wound up on the floor. I remounted it as securely as I could but it is still way too easy to knock the thing off the bumper.
So I keep the plate in the trunk. I would rather risk getting a ticket than lose the plate entirely due to hitting a big bump or from a parking lot tap.
You can always do the tried and true Trial by Written Declaration.
In the other thread, I mentioned I had my speeding ticket dismissed by going that route. I was going 91 on a 65.
Not required in PA, thank god. On the nissan > Porsche... That could get ugly..."so you put your nissan plate on a porsche" Did you steal the porsche? Why did you havet his plate on a porsche when it was registered to this nissan...
Update....my wife just got me off....I mean from the ticket! Get ur mind out the gutter. She has a friend who is a Sherriff in these parts and made a simple phone call!
WAH-LAH!
Yes sir re-bob. But thinking back, I was careless and should know better. Than again...eh.
The place to air it out is at the track. Thank God my first DE of the year is around the corner.
BTW, I resent (resemble?) that "Daryl, and his other brother Daryl..." comment.
Thanks for giving Barney a hard-on for guys in Porch's. There are only two that drive thru Barney's town - yours and mine.
Or is it really Camaro's that gives him a woody? Was he driving a TransAm? Or a monster truck with gombo-mudders?
Perhaps get a real Porch, not a water pumper, and Barney won't be able to chase you down - because he would be mesmerized by that sweet melody of an
air-cooled
flat six....
This may be God's way of telling you that real Porch's were never meant to have a place to add water.

Don't be surprised if you see a mullet wig stuffed in your mailbox when you get home tonight.....kinda like the horse head scene in the GodFather.
Neighbor Pete
A policeman can direct more than one car to pull over. Wouldn't be the first time for sure.
The solobiker police here use a PA system to direct people to pull over. Well at least they did when I got my $500 ticket.
I figure my air-cooled neighbor and I are going to set this guy up.......We will find where he is sitting and approach him from 2 different directions.......by the time Officer Fife figures what just happened we will both be long gone and he'll be wishing he had a second set of depends.
Of course this is just a thought and this in NO way advocates or insinuates breaking of the law.
NY charged and convicted a guy riding a bike with murder for speeding when he never saw to policeman that died chasing him. Policeman was off duty in an SUV going to opposite direction on a hwy. He crossed the median to chase after the guy. While going over 100mph in an SUV he lost it and died. I imagine the cause of the accident was motorist not getting out of the way and the officer using the emergency apron if the SUV going 100mph wasn't good enough to cause it to go out of control and crash. But needless to say the speeder takes the rap even if the chaser isn't visible or looking like police. Strange world and even stranger in NY.
I'd venture the police like to always be right even if stretching way beyond reality.
Good god, got a link for that story, sounds absolutely crazy. All I can hope is that the guy had the worst lawyer in the history of forever.
Edit: Well, I'm real leary of the justice system as a whole, it's completely retributive at this point when it should be about protecting your average person from people who would hurt them. And when it comes to a serious traffic offense like that I just can't see the point in sentencing the person to prison--they're only dangerous on a vehicle, take away their license forever or something, prison doesn't make sense.
Edit Two:
The Super-Speeder law, right? When does that kick in again? Something like 15 over, just like everyone does on I-75/85 through downtown? At least it's not I-20 in east Alabama, a truck kicked up a stray rock through a woman's windshield and killed her. What did they do to fix the problem? Drop the speed limit from 70mph to 55mph for a 40 mile stretch of interstate. Now that's what I call problem solving.
Original charges sought were murder not manslaughter or any thing closer to a lesser charge.

Its sad the way things end up on the hwys some times but the guy on the bike if you could even stretch the idea that he was being chased by an suv that unmarked and a personal car along with the fact he was going the opposite direction turning around after a bike zips past going 100..... unreal. I would of looked into finding out who was around his car when he crashed that might of drove like a fool like many others out there. Some one elsewhere mentioned he lost it going 60 around a 90 degree turn and hit a tree....
SUV's kill not the driver just like guns
Sorry Pac...no hard feelings but your facts are wrong.
Chevy "PATROL" vehicle....it was marked...with lights and sirens going and you mean to tell me the guy on the motorcycle had no Idea he was being pursued......I DOUBT IT. State police dont use unmarked Tahoes for patrol. The charges were pressed due to the proximity of the patrol car to the violator, it would have to be proven in court that the violator was aware and disregarded the lights and sirens which in NEW YORK constitutes a forceable stop.

"He turned his vehicle around and chased the suspect for approximately two miles before his Chevy Tahoe patrol vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree."
Witnesses put the marked police vehicle in close proximity to the police officers vehicle, stating that the motorcycle was going through red lights, leaving the scene after the fatal accident.
What got me was the originally charge was murder when a lame driver pulling in front of a bike for a max would get manslaughter or negligent homicide. Now I see the charges were changed appropriately to be in the usual realm of legalizing murder on our nation’s hwys.
In the beginning the press release was the officer was off duty in his personal car shopping when he saw the offender. He then crossed the divided hwy to pursue. Soembody going 100mph the opposite direction just isn't going to see he has a pursuite vehicle behind him till caught up to. This takes it for granted the rider has rear view mirrors. All picky tech stuff anyway.
I feel the immediate surrounds of the policeman should have been investigated more to see who fouled up his pursuit. Hawaii went through removing customizing policemen’s personal cars at the department motor pool. The cars would be used for duty also but short and sweet if the policeman in this motor accident did have the same sort of deal or did engine upgrades like a turbo the common sense thing is to bulk up the brakes. Many don’t improve their brakes. This is one thing I believe is why the Hawaii police department decided to eliminate the upgrades due to the department being responsible in the event of a policeman doing something like underestimating required braking and killing somebody. Even with improved brakes. At any rate I kind of saw the original charge of murder as hiding something. I’m sure anyone near the policeman would have hired a lawyer then blame would have been put on the officer from those lawyers. Strange case.
Whatever the case it’s a shame the officer died.
Then on the reality note of things racing police is unadviseable
"Prior to this incident it was not illegal to flee from the police in New York State. On November 1, 2006 the "Trooper Craig Todeschini Bill" was passed into law, creating the crime of Fleeing from a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle." from the link below.
http://www.odmp.org/officer/18292-tr...-j.-todeschini
If only we had known!
I'm sure there were charges available to put against guys caught when trying to flee. Failure to comply or stop, attempting to flee and such come to mind.
Possibly this new law allows trial with a known or unknown person in abstention for traffic violations. The the main reason was probably to have seperate charges to slam guys with higher fines and jail time up the ying yang.
Don't go over the speed limit is the secret
Some people just don't get it. When I'm in a show, it seems at least 3 people will ask people ask me "what year is your car?".... ok look the plate... Then the Porch experts say "oh I thought it was an '82'' huh???
Hey Sneak Pete, did you get a counter balance with that alignment? Any thoughts on C/B's?
Yep...fail to comply which is a violation and depending on your driving youll be hit with reckless driving(violation) and possibly reckless endangerment (misdermeanor)....and now you get hit with a second misdermeanor which is fleeing. If you get cuaght you will face a whole slew of charges now.
If your car has coil-over suspension with adjustable ride height, and you have your spring rates and sway bar settings ‘dialed in’, then you may be ready to have your car corner balanced and aligned. Corner balancing isn’t more complex than it sounds, it simply means that the car is applying equally distributed weight to the ground via the four contact points. It is not always possible to get the car perfect because of the way most cars are balanced, but we can get them very close.
