Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

20 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I wanted say thanks to all for the help while i had the car. She was a joy to own and I found her a new and happy home. If anyone had any leads on a well sorted 996 turbo please shoot me a pm. Thanks again for everything!

POST 2Original post

Excellent! What are you're must haves so we can narrow down. Price comfort zone Mileage/Trans/color/ etc.

POST 3Original post

I suggest going over to the TT forum and asking what you can get for under $40k. You'll get loads of "helpful" input Good luck on the new search and don't really take that advice unless you want to be lumped in with KC and nobody wants that

POST 4Original post

Come to the dark side.... The 997 is calling you....

POST 5Original post

Can't vouch for any of the cars but a search at www.autotrader.com turned up 133 996 Turbos for sale any distance. Go look at some near you to hone your Turbo evaluation skills. And you might just find one you like.

Watch this thread: https://rennlist.com/forums/996-turb...ine-finds.html It was started by a highly respected member of the 996tt forum. But it does seem to draw posts about some very good deals. As gnat said, just pretend you don't know me when posting over there and you'll be fine. And if someone does accuse you of being a NA996 forum guy, just refer to me as an *** and tell them that their 996tt is worth at least $75k 'cause it's bone stock.

POST 8Original post

Good luck with your search. There are plenty of good tts in the 30k to 40k range. Don't be scared of a higher milage well maintained and documented car. They are usually in better condition than the 40k mile care about to hit a midlife crisis. And yes the guys on the TT forum have some overinflated veiws on price.

Thanks to all for the input.! I am in the mid to high 30s as far as money to spend. I am open to colors and options. Def needs to be a manual trans.

POST 10Original post

Here you go. I bet you could get this one for 35K. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Porsche-911-...m=281905757019

Set aside another $10k to get that kind of car sorted. In spite of what some say, these are no longer 30k cars. A decent 996tt is going to have a high 4 handle at minimum now.

POST 12Original post

I went from the 996 to the 996TT. A few years back I had a 944 turbo with a hefty kick once spooled. I missed that when I got the 996. I got that burst of speed back with the 996TT. You are on the right track.

One of the guys on the turbo forum just went by and did a Rennfax on that car. He posted his report in the turbo forum Craigslist thread. Sounds like a nice car with just a few minor cosmetic issues.

Good luck with your search. Be sure to share with us what you end up picking up.

POST 16Original post

I think you'll find a nice car in that range but I think you'll need to dump some money into it. In the end you'll likely have a well sorted car for 42-43 with mid-miles. I am of the opinion that all the cars you'll find will need work even low mileage ones (no-matter how much you spend). The cars are up to 15 years old so lots of the accessories and rubber parts will need replacing. Don't confuse low miles with well taken care of.

POST 20Original post

After driving a modified 996TT, I settled for a 996 N/A 3.6L due to my personal driving style... With that said my next P-car will be an 08+ carerra S.... I just can't seem to reasonably use the turbo's power on the twisty canyon/county roads by my house. congrats on ending your search! I can't believe in 3 years they jumped back up to mid 40's
