Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I wonder if the shop didn't properly clean your flywheel before install.

Are you running an OEM clutch and the dual-mass flywheel?
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I've only owned one 996 so I have nothing to reference.
With the car warmed up, are you able leave from a stop with just slow release of the clutch and the rpms below 1000? Do you gets lots of clutch chatter when doing so?
Thanks.
Yes, I can ease the clutch out at low RPM with no drama/spectacle.
I do not get any clutch chatter from my 996, ever. Even when my clutch was worn to the rivets, it still functioned fine from a stop - it just slipped in the higher gears at freeway speed.
Yes. The clutch was replaced with the IMS 11 months ago. Zero chatter with the old clutch. Chatter with the new one from day one and has progressively gotten worse.
I can almost get into gear with no gas and certainly no unusual noise. The only time I tend to hear any clatter is if I mis-time gas on / clutch in, like while in a parking lot.

Mine was chattering when pulling away at idle until I recently had my clutch replaced. It wasn't that the clutch disk was worn out, it was that the pressure plate "fingers" that hold it to the shaft were bent in some places.
Sorry for the less than technical speak but I think from your post that I had the same feeling until the replacement.
Maybe your pressure plate wasn't replaced when they did the clutch and the same issue happened?
I wonder if the shop didn't properly clean your flywheel before install. That can lead to chattering, which should not occur on a properly installed OEM clutch
