Using a similar strategy to the YouTube link I posted above, I removed the latch with the two bolts behind the carpet and worked the cable off.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The front hood lever on my 2000 cab has become increasingly harder to pull. Is there a way to lubricate the cable or is there some adjustment that can be done?

POST 2Original post

You might try a dab of grease on the hood latch where it attached to the car body. Failing that, a shot of WD40 on any of the exposed cable if you can see it. Even lift the lever in the drivers door well and spray under it. I think the fault maybe in the actual latching system of the frunk lid.

POST 3Original post

First - what Hurdi said. Second - locate your emergency release cable and pull it...see if it is easier to use. If it is hard like the lever release more than likely the hood latch needs lubrication. Also, relocate the emergency release cable to just inside the tow hook plug on the front bumper. In the end, you may have to remove the front hood latch which is not difficult and lubricate the inside parts. When you have it out, you can shoot WD-40 down the cable.

Do you think that a bicycle brake cable lubrication tool would work with these cables?

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Using a similar strategy to the YouTube link I posted above, I removed the latch with the two bolts behind the carpet and worked the cable off. Using an old, brittle piece of tubing I simply duct taped it to the cable and put in a little light oil. Then I found some spray silicone within arms reach and used that instead. After letting it drain and work its way in for a few minutes I reassembled and tested. Works smooth and like new. The whole process shouldn't take more than 10-15 minutes at most.
