Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I would check for loose trim pieces on the outside of the car, something is vibrating to make that buzz

Doesnt sound mechanical at all so i wouldnt worry too much in that direction, but check your undercarriage for missing bolts on your skid plates or even rocks stuck between your skid plate and body, causing them to vibrate in the wind.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hello everyone
Recently acquired a 996; loving it so far!!
Today, on my first highway trip, a weird noise appeared out of nowhere, as soon as i went past 80-90 mph (120-130kph)
Here is the video with sound :

The noise would come up when i was over that speed, at first it felt like it came from vibrations, but i dont know. It would stop when I went slower, and start up again when i accelerate.
It seems the noise comes from behind the dashboard.
I tried troubleshooting some stuff, the fact that i press the pedal or not have no impact on the noise, the AC or whatever neither, the radio also not.
If you have any clue, i read a lot of stuff here about dashboard rattles but didn't find something that seem to match!
Thank you for reading !
Also, for fun, here's a pic of the car, and another one of me in 98 with that exact same car on the shelves near my bed. Dreams do come true sometimes
It might be the overspeed chime or buzzer? Not sure if the early cars had this option on the dash info center. Again just an off the wall guess. If it sounds like its from the passengerside corner of the dash there is a cabin sensor for air temp that can buzz but thats usually not a speed related failure
Agreed. I was going to guess windshield wipers but hes using them in the video.
Personally, I would buy some masking tape and place it over a few spots and just see if air entering certain areas is causing it, to track down the location of the sound. Doesnt sound mechanical at all so i wouldnt worry too much in that direction, but check your undercarriage for missing bolts on your skid plates or even rocks stuck between your skid plate and body, causing them to vibrate in the wind.
