This is not a probability of success.

They also have talked me *out* of a few pricey mods based on their knowledge of my use case.

I like to roam and look forward to having this resource (though I hope not to make much use of it).
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hey fellow 996 enthusiasts!
Im gearing up for an epic road trip across the U.S. with my family this summer, and I couldnt be more excited to hit the open road in my 996. 🚗💨 To make sure were prepared for any surprises along the way, I thought it would be awesome to tap into our amazing community to compile a list of trusted independent Porsche mechanics across different cities.
We all have our go-to experts who keep our prized machines running smoothly. Here in Montreal, my top pick is
WETune - Andrew Grubb
hes been fantastic in keeping my Porsche in top shape! Ive also heard great things about
EK Performance
; the community here seems evenly split between the two.
I thought it would be fun and super helpful if we could all share our preferred independent mechanics. Whether its someone who got you out of a jam on a road trip or the local legend who knows Porsches inside and out, lets give them a shout-out!

Why you recommend them:
I am 10 years/55k miles into a 2002 C2 maintained by ASG and have No connection other than satisfied customer. My favorite thing is that they are
emphatically
diagnostic (vs "throw parts at the affected area"); you simply cannot buy guesswork from this shop. They also have talked me *out* of a few pricey mods based on their knowledge of my use case. The pricing's fair, the communication is clear and consistent, and the work always shows care-full, knowledgeable attention. My daughter's going to end up with a Porsche for a first car, just so I don't have to search for another shop I'd trust with her life.

Mechanic’s Name (if applicable): Alex is the owner and Stuart or Steve know these cars
•
Why you recommend them: I have had them work on my 996 for years, They have done the IMS LN Engineering bearing, the UAOS and everything else. Price is much better than dealer and these guys are Porsche experts. The only downside is you need to make appointments well in advance.
Thanks

, I'm going to add these shops to my list. Hopefully some of our Southern and Mid-West friends will keep this list going.

Been with them for over 20 yrs with other vehicles, pricing is amazing. Peter sold me my 996 and keeps me rolling!!!!!! I wouldn't say he is a 996 "Master tech" but he knows how to work on German engineering
Thanks

They're in Central Houston - not the most glamorous of shops, so if you want free soy lattes or something go elsewhere but they know their stuff and have the best rates I've seen in the center of the city. They'll work on Saturdays by appointment.
Houston is sprawled out, so I'd also mention the Garagisti - they have two locations, one in Katy (west side of Houston) and one on Hempstead (just north of the city center) -

There's also Rennsport in Sealy, TX - that is outside Houston on the way to San Antonio, kind of.
@M422A1
, thank you for the suggestion..
In a couple of weeks when I think we've exhausted this thread, I'll post the entire list with everyones recommendations beside it. Maybe the Admins can pin it for later reference.
Might not be up to date but here is a place to find certified installers for the LN IMS bearings. They should be pretty knowledgeable on our engines and cars.
