Don't get Texstar unless you love to clean off brake dust!

If you don’t want ATE pads (I like other choices), then buy all the stuff on the list and change the pads.

The other stuff like sensors and fasteners, I could see an argument for using Porsche branded.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Got a 2004 C4S and looking at the Pelican kit for about $1200. Anyone have any comments on it? Textar pads the same as OEM? Rotars pads, sensors, clips, fluid. Any comments would be appreciated.
$1200 seems like a lot, even though I haven't gone shopping for my 996 brakes. I really like the AKEBONO euro pads, if it's just a daily driver, they perform similar to OEM pads and dust about 10% as much, I put them on all my cars. Here is a link to Rockauto parts, that is where I normally get my parts.

I guess I need to be informed, Rockauto has OE kits for under $300 and Pelican has them for $1200? I am on stock units myself and yes the dust sucks but its still good stopping power
I paid $1200 for Zimmerman rotors, Akebono pads, new clip sets, all new sensors, new caliper bolts. This was back during Covid when I think parts were harder to get. I went through Pelican Parts, so, not the cheapest place.
I would probably have chosen different rotors if I could do it all over again.
I don't think you need OEM unless you're trying to sell the car. $60 Centric rotors (think they're branded Power Stop now) can handle everything from daily driving to W2W endurance racing and have never given me any issues with balance, wear, or warp. The factory pads also aren't that great and they dust a lot - for $200+ there are a lot of options, I like Stoptech Sports for the heat handling and reasonable bite and modulation. Fluid can be cheapo Motul RBF600 for everyone but the most hardcore track folks. The other stuff like sensors and fasteners, I could see an argument for using Porsche branded.
Many kit prices are per end. And there’s that difference between “OE”. “OEM” and Porsche parts. Is Dynamic Friction really OE? Most budget kits don’t include the pricey shims, wear sensors, etc. So you still get what you pay for, you just don’t grossly overpay.
I went with coated rotors to presumably reduce rust buildup over time, as my rotors were so rusted, rust dust and flakes were falling off in huge amounts, not to mention the cooling fins on the inside looked horrible.
However, my rotors might have been original, or two decades old, so Im not sure coated rotors are necessary.
Id also get slotted rotors instead of drilled, as I understand those are better for the track. I know you said no tracking, but still.
Regarding brake pad choice: do you like a soft pedal or a hard pedal? My Akebonos are soft, and Im ok with it, but I prefer a hard pedal. Some people are quite particular about what they want their brakes to feel like.
I have a 71T, very fresh all rebuilt chassis/brakes etc. All is basically new/refurbished with under 4k miles on it. Not stock motor. 2.7L. Front end is Boge with Bilstein HD inserts, 21mm torsions, 18mm sways etc. I'd like a larger front caliper with more pad area and heat dissipation for aggressive canyon runs IIRC, the stock M caliper uses a D31 pad (I have porter field pads in it now) with a 2.4x2.2 pad area. The S have a 3x2.75 pad area (approx). Am I correct options for the front brakes are: Get S type front struts and an S caliper The PMB Brembo AM bolt on for 3" spacing brakes Get a carrera type strut and swap over the brakes and rotors, etc Any other options?
