Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm not a convertible guy, but find myself with a cab that I am rebuilding, and I've come to really like this things. I'd really like to put a different/bigger/cooler wing on the back, but it seems that there are minimal options for these due to the difference in the engine covers. Doing some digging, I found this really old thread: https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...briolet-3.html Seems to be a cool 'Misha' wing, but I can't find it anywhere anymore it seems. I also started this thread a while back asking about engine cover interchangeability, which is why it seems there are minimal option for our cabs: https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...eablility.html Then I also found this fixed wing option....but not sure I like it yet, anyone have this? https://www.ebay.com/itm/134810797637 Any other options? What are others doing? I know the 996 is getting old, so not the hot new thing and most aftermarket companies aren't interested in the older platforms. Would be cool to see other options. Thanks!

POST 2Original post

I am also looking for a rear wing for my cab. Not sure I like eBay wing.

POST 3Original post

I'm working on a Carrera/Cab/C4S spoiler insert right now because I couldn't find anything I liked... smaller than what you have in mind, but perhaps fitting the bill nonetheless. https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...e-decklid.html

This looks like a stock 996 Turbo Cab deck lid with a Misha GT2 style wing on it. As far as I know all 996 Cab decklids are interchangeable.

I was thinking the same....it's OK. Not $800 OK, and if I spend the money/time on it, I want it to be more than OK. I read through your thread awhile back, and it definitely looks like it might be a cool option!! I think all the cab decklids are interchangeable, but I'm not certain about the non-cab lids. Not sure I've ever seen a cab turbo decklid. Where would I even see the Misha GT2 wing? Seems all the sights referencing Misha stuff are defunct.

You've seen a 996 Turbo Cab decklid in the picture you posted! The Turbos use a spoiler that raises vertically on two hydraulic cylinders. Both Turbo Cab and Turbo coupe have this. The stock Turbo wing just looks like a simple blade. The wing in that picture is a Misha GT2 style wing (or a knock-off of the Misha part). I have a Misha GT2 style wing on my black 6TT.

Ah, OK, making more sense!! So if I want to put a turbo wing on my car I HAVE to get a cab turbo wing and decklid. The coupe decklid will not fit, correct? Sorry for the seemingly dumb questions I'm going on my 2nd month of Porsche ownership ever, lol. *edit..... now I'm thinking this wont work at all, since NB is not interchangeable with Turbo/wide body, correct? Again, apologies for my lack of knowledge.

POST 8Original post

All I know is the Turbo Cab and C4S Cab deck lids are interchangeable. Makes sense as both are wide body cars. I cannot speak to the NB cars interchangeability.

Makes sense.....until someone confirms that they have done it, or seen it I will assume the ya are not.

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Ahha! So, I think I finally found the key...well at least something that helps me. The taillights are in fact different between the turbo and NA. YOu all probably knew this, but I did not. Therefore, the decklids will not be interchagneable between the 2 just form the fact that they won't align with the tails. OK, back to the drawing board.....getting a Turbo type wing onto a NB Cab......
