I ended up replacing the cheapo head unit from the previous owner and making sure all the connections were solid and correct.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello everyone, I was wondering if anyone has seen this before, i will post a video. Seems like every 10-15 seconds the power supply goes out for just half a second or something. I could really use some help to get me looking in the right direction. Ive put a brand new battery in the car, and the car wil crank when i turn the key, it wont start just yet but thats because i bought it with a broken fuel pump, so when the new pump arrives i think itll run. But i dont think the pump not being there is related to this electrical issue. Also ive tried to read any codes and the obd port is giving power to the reader but the reader is unable to connect and read codes, i think maybe this is because of the dip in the electronics? Pls comment everything that comes to mind when looking at the video i posted. Thanks! 👍🏻

It looks like the only flashing is in the two gauges on either side of the tach?

and the rpm meter and mph meter drop dead when the lights flash. And after that they come up again.

You sure its not a loose battery cable or ground.?

POST 5Original post

If you havent already tried and since your fuel pump is shot remove the fuel pump relay and recheck. Report back if anything changes and include year model of 996.

POST 6Original post

Is there any change to your stereo output when the dash lights blink? I had a similar issue - when I would sometimes hit a bump, the stereo would cut out and the dash lights would dim and pulse for a while. I ended up replacing the cheapo head unit from the previous owner and making sure all the connections were solid and correct. I haven't had the issue since.
