I have a factory aero kit on my 996.1 but where the bumper meets the indicators on both sides the bumper sticks out a bit. I'm wondering if this is normal? My instinct is telling me it should be flush. I know it was lowered and the front lip that these aero kits typically have is no longer there. I'm wondering if the bumper scraping over time has caused the bumper to pull out a big causing this gap? Any ideas how I can correct this if it should be flush?

POST 2Original post

Looks like it's pulled away from your fender liner also. Are you missing some fasteners?

POST 3Original post

Plasic pice that retains the marker and upper bumper screw may be cracked. Just swapped one side because if this issue.

POST 4Original post

Try this first: The front wheel well liner fits inside the rear most part of the cover lip. Either remove the rear cover mount screws and pull the cover more to the rear or take a plastic trim tool and try to slide the cover over the black liner piece. Pretty common to make this error.

Or maybe the fastener is just missing.

No clue if that's the issue yet but if it is will replacing it pull in the bumper at the end of the indicator by the wheels? Curious as that fastener seems to be towards the front of the car whereas the gap is towards the wheels. Anyone have any idea on the part number for the fastener / screw?

Other than checking fasteners around the indicator light, remove the screws holding the bottom of the cover to the lower brackets and see if that changes how it hangs. The picture showing the liner mis fit makes it look like the bottom is being held too close to the top, forcing the bow out. If that makes any sense. This would mean something is wrong with the lower bracket, which I believe is the radiator bracket. Good luck!

^^ This. Looking at your picture I believe the bracket #9 or spacers #7 are missing as the bottom edge looks pushed up, just like golock mentioned. The bracket bridges the distance between the bottom edge and the radiator bracket. Not much info on fitting the front bumper cover but for completeness sake the fitting instructions are available here: https://rennlist.com/forums/attachme..._aerokit-2.pdf

POST 11Original post

Theres a screw that goes up into the fender. I need to reinstall mine.

I had the same issue as the OP. Upon inspection, that screw that SoCal pointed out, was missing. Kinda a pain to install, but fixed the issue I had.

Yep thats the one.

POST 14 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I pulled out the indicators and both sides have the fasteners / tabs. On one side I was able to push the liner into the bumper and it was a bit better.but the other side with the larger liner gap doesn't seem like I can simply push the liner into the bumper. Will need to take a look at the lower brackets that some of you have mentioned when I have time. I did notice on the side with the large liner gap that plastic housing that the indicator pops into is broken (red circle). This seems like it could be one of the potential causes causing the bumper to pull out as there isn't enough tension pulling the bumper up from the fastener (blue circle). Does anyone know if this an easy part to replace or is it a big issue? Looks like it's #13 (retaining strip) in this link ( https://www.autoatlanta.com/porsche-...section=802-00 ) Red circle showing damaged housing Damaged housing Other side with in tact housing

POST 15Original post

Could be an optical illusion, but the screw in that top photo looks to have a slightly domed head. It should be countersunk with a completely flat head that should be flush when screwed in from memory.

POST 16Original post

Thats the same cracked plastic i had on mine. Delaware porsche had an online discount site, although shipping may.be an issue. Mk1 passs side piece. https://www.delawareporscheparts.com...ip-99650553600 Also both screw locations in thar corner have that screw plus a spacer/washer.

POST 17Original post

It looks like a plastic rivet instead of a screw (#11) and washer (#12, that's the one mentioned in post 16). The gap indicated by the two green lines must be zero to have the cover sit flush. #13 is visible in the picture in post 7, 8 and 12. After that fit the lower bracket #9 to the RHS bottom as it very much looks like it's missing.
