Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I have seen to many Small Block Chevy's destroyed by butterfly screws falling out or the center bolt in Holley Carb falling out when used with single plain intakes...
Leading evidence: 'Use with single plain intakes' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check intake/vacuum leaks' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Hey Im quickly approaching the finish line but I needed to check for vacuum leaks.

But that's going to change after this car is done.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

There is a thread on here where the guy put a cap on this and epoxy the cap to the intake tube and it worked.
Hey Im quickly approaching the finish line but I needed to check for vacuum leaks. Well overall, Id say it did great. It leaked from the brake booster adapter as expected. However this one was not. Its leaking from the hinge on the rear flapper. Its not gushing, but rather slowly seeping out. Should I address or is this normal?
I don't believe this part is serviceable. There are no part numbers for the mechanics of that flapper. Looking it over I don't even see a snap ring. Epoxy sounds like it would foul up the movement, no?
That why you cap it so does not interfere with the shaft movement and then epoxy the cap to the intake, then a lean misfire could not blow the cap off if it ever happens..
Agreed. Im trying a combination of electrical tape to make a cap and then JB Weld over that to stop any leaks.
Anyone else seen this or have any additional advice? Am I wasting my time with such a small leak?
No u r not wasting your time. A leak is a leak and these engines dont like intake leaks. U came this far so finish it.
The electrical tape is a waste of time Go to lowes or hd and go through the specialty parts bin in the hardware section and find a rigid cap that works. Use a putty type epoxy around the rim of the cap and press it into place
Thanks for that. Im just tired and ready to start this biotch. I was gonna smoke test it again after I did that janky fix. But youre right. It needs to be done right because its in the back and wont be easily accessible.
The good news is that there were no other leaks!
I probably have a cap to fit it.
What's the OD measurement?
I'll be at the Sugar Land Porsche get together on Saturday, and could drive farther to meet up if necessary.
It was similar to yours and yes it 100% worked and has held with no issues thus far. I had to dig for it but heres the post covering it the solution:

Awesome! That's gotta be worth 1000hp right there!
Seriously, us peoples tend to overthink things. This is an awesome solution. Great creativity by
@islaTurbine
Can't wait to see this engine fire up. I also can't believe you've only driven the car something like 100 miles. Great fun comin' up!
That cap solution should add AT LEAST that much HRSPWR.
Yeah ever since the Pandemic I haven't really driven much. I work from home so there's no daily commute for me (thank God). But that's going to change after this car is done. I just wish we had more scenic views near us in Houston. Everything is flat and paved over. Once the engine is broken in, I'm going to take a trip to the hill country and really break it loose.
I would not recomend anyone messing around with the butterflys unless it is absolutely nessesary...
I have seen to many Small Block Chevy's destroyed by butterfly screws falling out or the center bolt in Holley Carb falling out when used with single plain intakes...
That's why people in the know leave the center screw out of the Holley and don't mess with the butterflys unless they absolutely have to...
But to answer your question you remove the butterfly screws and butterfly then slide the shaft out the side.....and be very deliberate on reinstalling the screws with proper Loktite....
And thats the problem. Over time these things appear to wear the plastic enough to allow seepage. A new one will set you back ~200 and a used one about half. Problem with used is that you may just be buying another worn out one.
