Read evidence and context

Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

was i supposed to peel the paper off or what?

POST 2Original post

Not sure what is this paper, but I use a 3 putty knife to separate the shims from the pads.

POST 3Original post

Yes new shims have adhesive and r supose to stick... although i have never used new ones and im not sure if they stick to the pistons or the pad? Guessing the pad

POST 4Original post

In my day (1.5 million years ago) we’d spray adhesive on the back of the pad to prevent squeal. My guess would be adhesive on the piston side.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

thanks guys. I had no idea I had to remove those liners during installation and noticed they were coming out on 3/4 corners. I was able to get the paper out without any trouble. I thought I would share my rookie mistake for people to get a laugh. woops! ya live and ya learn.

POST 6Original post

I actually forgot to take the paper off when I was halfway through my brake job on my car. Never did go back afterwards.
