Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

9 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So I just finished about 4 months worth of work on the 996 C4S, and have one lonely part leftover....! Wondering if anyone has suggestions on where this was supposed to go? There's a long list of work that was done (below). My first guess was that it was a retainer for one of the two shift cables at the trans, but I don't think so. My second guess was that it was a coolant pipe support bracket on the driver's side, but couldn't find anything amiss. - Pulled transmission, replaced transmission mount, trans fluid, clutch, pressure plate, rear main seal, IMS bearing, and clutch slave cylinder. - Pulled both front CV joints, rebuilt with new boots, refilled front diff. - Replaced all four coffin arms (front and rear lower control arm), all four sway bar links - Pulled intakes off top of engine, replaced seals on oil cooler, AOS and all it's pipes, replaced starter - Replaced coolant, bled brakes, changed oil (while IMS out) PS - I've searched the term "circlip" in the Katalog PDF, but that's not this exact car, and I don't get any returns for 15mm.

POST 2Original post

I'm probably no help but I suggest being more specific on the car being discussed.

POST 3Original post

It is plastic? If so it fits on the brake booster vacuum connection.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

It is plastic : I will go take a look for the brake booster vacuum connection : is that in the engine bay or the frunk? Car is a 2002 C4S with 110k miles.

POST 7Original post

I recognize that too! I threw mine away to save some weight

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

@dougn I'm sure the butt dyno notices the improved power to weight ratio ! !

POST 9Original post

I lost mine when I did my UAOS. I used a cable tie and before I could order another I found where it had fallen under the car and was able to reuse it.
