Suggestion
I ordered a set of 2 Metropol Blue mats back in late 2017/early 2018 to replace the driver's mat that had a hole worn in it.

I will have to go look and compare to the original set I've yet to remove from the car.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hello all,
Recently I have ordered a set of new OEM floor mats at the dealer. Part number 000-044-800-84-G10 (in my case G10 for being metropol blue)
My surprise was that, when I received them, they are not exactly like the original ones that came with the car. They seem a lower level in quality. The mat itself, seems to be a bit less thick than the original one, and the back is a vulcanized finishing, instead of the rubber mat in the old ones that we have.
I had read that, when you order only the set of 2, that was what you get, but I was expecting the set of 4 being exactly like the old ones
Do you know if there is any other different part number that match the old floor mats, or this is what we get now as new "updated part"?
Thanks for the reply
As I mentioned before, I had read from some online shop reviews, that now you can buy the set of 4 or just set of the front mats, and when you did so, it seemed that you received the mats of inferior quality. However it seems that is also the case when you order the set of 4.
I have even looked in the old Tequipment catalog, from 2004, and the part number is the same: 000.044.800.84 + color code
So I guess we have to set now for this "like dealer installed for free" mats...
I have a new set of Metropol Blue front mats that I ordered from Suncoast that have been sitting unopened for 2 years. I will have to go look and compare to the original set I've yet to remove from the car.

That set matched the originals.

I'll have to see if the part number(s) is on the plastic bag.
Actually the backing is different.
The tops are identical and the driver's mat has endured ~30K miles of driving, so it has held up well.
Here's the backing of both. Old mat on top of new one
Thank you all for the photos!
It looks like the 000.044.800.53 is for the set of 2 and the 000.044.800.84 is for the set of 4
But as I see in the photos, all of them now have the "vulcanized" back instead of the rubber one. Also, the way that the velcro pad is attached, or even when you compare the top (the newers are a bit less thick)... definetely, they look cheaper
In MINI for instance, when you get the stock floor mats, they are like those with the vulcanized back. However, when you order the "premium mats" (Mini Yours) they are much thicker, with that rubber back like we used to have.
But it is what it is...
Thanks again!
