I tried to drill out the existing bolt and extract it using extraction bits, but it is in there so solid that they just snap off.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

14 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I had to change the rear window regulators in my car. Previous owner apparently attempted to get into the area behind the interior rear panel and stripped the catch bolt. Apparently he did not have a decent set of tools as the aluminum hex wrench tool with the red handle that comes with the Cabriolet cars was twisted. I tried to drill out the existing bolt and extract it using extraction bits, but it is in there so solid that they just snap off. Anyway, I ended up cutting the bolt off so I could at least remove the panel and complete my repair. Now I am left with an exposed, damaged catch bolt that I am going to have to drill out. I have a replacement rubber shroud that goes around the bolt, but I do not have an actual replacement bolt. Do any of you guys with donor cars have a spare one of these you'd be willing to sell me? Pics of what I need are below. Thanks in advance!

POST 2Original post

I deleted the rear seats, but I believe those bolts are still installed. If so, you're welcome to one of mine. I'll pull it off tonight - PM me your mailing address.

POST 3Original post

I think I still have mine. Let me check when I get home.

POST 9Original post

Stripped the bolt trying to get it out, and after using a vice grip wrench to take it out, I now have a deformed, stripped, bolt and need a new one. No need for the plastic part, bolt only. If anybody has a spare one, please reply to this.
