the harmonically damped one is $455...and is generally used for engines that are running lightweight flywheels...

I used unorthodox racing pulleys on some of my previous vws.

Anyway Ill be calling rss to double check, thanks.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Has anyone installed this before? They claim a 7 hp increase. Uses a different belt and its also lighter so reduces weight. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Merry Christmas 🎄.
My car is fast enough. Hell when Im driving with my wife I dont take it past 5,000 rpms and about 100-105. Anyway I got an email from vivid racing and those are on super clearance. Since Im putting a new belt, doing the fabspeed x pipe and Carrera S 3.8 airbox, Ill figure i asked if anyone has messed with this. I can eat steak and lobster every day, but I love pizza. Yes I buy digiorno, ny pizzeria, freschetta, and I add prosciutto, Italian herb spice blend, i hydrate shiitake mushrooms, and off course one of my old times favorites andouille sausage and a 5 cheese Italian grated cheese blend on top, Hope your chicken pot pie has more than enough chicken on it.
The underdrive pulley to make small gains in horsepower has been around for 50+ years.
I believe first used in Drag Racing Stock Eliminator classes.
Do they work yes, you will make a small gain in horsepower.
Before you buy the particular brand you mentioned, due your home work.
There were more than a few articles in various forums and publications about the difference in brands of under drive pulleys for our 3.4/3.6.
There were tests with video and photographs documenting failures of poor design of these pulleys.
The major flaw, the amount of material used going from center out to pulley. Some fragmented.
There were also the fear mongers who said that your car would over heat. If your overheats, it is not due to an under drive pulley. Or the dead battery saga.
6+ years and 40,000+ miles.
No over heat, no dead battery.
Most do not take a different belt.
If you ever change your crank pulley, BUY A NEW BOLT. These bolts are one and done.
Beware of the brand you buy.
My SBC in the 1970s, Aluminum under drive pulley by Moroso. 8000 rpm motor, never an issue.
i was just inquiring about the one from agency power. It does uses a different belt which comes with it. Yes I know the principle of operation. I used unorthodox racing pulleys on some of my previous vws. I was told that Jake Likes the RSS One.
If you have a reference of brand from someone then go with it
I did my home work and went with RSS. I spoke with the mfg of a least 3 brands. I purposefully did not give you a recommendation of a brand different than what you inquired about, because as we all know, opinions vary and get slandered by this group, depending on whose they are. Wither they have actual first hand experience or not.
My RSS came with a new belt as well, same as factory length.
Do what you want.
please let me know where you bought the rss at. Bruce (squirrel) also has that one on his car. Thanks, Ill be going to cars and cocktails today with a few other porsches, wifes are going with us and we are all from all different countries , i nicknamed us the Latin mafia. Thanks
RSS makes 2 under-drive pulleys... the plain one is $230... the harmonically damped one is $455...and is generally used for engines that are running lightweight flywheels...
Im getting a rss from Tex squirrel. In my hands I have a brand new continental 6 PK 2115, is this the correct belt?? Anyway Ill be calling rss to double check, thanks.
I installed one in my 2001 Carrera 3.4L, yes the engine felt a bit "peppier" but some of that feeling is likely psychosomatic - sort of like "wishing fishing", i.e. I think I just had a nibble! Of note there is a small tab coming of the block on my M96/21 that required a bit of grinding down in order for the undersized pulley to fit and not rub, I was none too sure at first but ended up saying "the heck with it" and did so. Also be sure to have a proper length belt, mine came with one and then I wrote down the belt manufacturer & part number in the manual for future reference. Some folks wonder about the reduced rpm to the auxiliaries such as alternator, A/C pump, etc. but I wasn't concerned it would be enough to make a difference. I've had it on there for a year now and honestly if it was still the original one I doubt I would be able to tell the difference between it and a stock one.
yeah there were like 7 porsches there yesterday, a bunch of other cars, from maclarens, to Ferraris, vettes, mustangs, vws etc. anyway a few pics for your enjoyment, cars and cocktails the last Sunday of the month at little Woodrows in tomball, get there early the event gets packed. This Saturday the first The cars and coffee is at formula garage in the heights, Ill always take my little cooler with me, I dont drink coffee, enjoy. Luis in Katy. Hopefully I have the fabspeed xpipe on my car by Saturday.
86, my car in the middle, Alfredos 02, we try to stick together.
My car gets **** loads of attention because it looks different.
Before Ill put the trigger Ill talk to rss today. My engine is in awesome shape compression at 167 to 170 all cylinders, for whatever it may even have a underdrive pulley. Anyway had a blast yesterday after a few , took it to 155 on my way home, love that little go cart.
I did about a 35 mile drive yesterday, but a bit slower than 155 mph, we had some snow and the roads were compact snow/ice. Recently installed Michelin Pilot Sport 4+ All Seasons did great though!
Pre-drive before shoveling a bunch at the house and down to the street about a 1/4 mile.
Post drive and happy!
There are lots of places pretty close to here where you can hit 155 on the street without passing any traffic.
People do that speed and more all the time.
Really its relatively safe in some areas...if you have the right car and good tires.
Driving that speed requires a lot of care to not endanger others, because passing people that fast is dangerous since theyre not expecting it.
A short burst to 155 is not that dangerous if theres no other traffic.
Im sure Luis is being careful.
But I keep warning Luis that hell end up with free room and board if he gets caught.
Heres my speedometer: (I used my Durametric to simulate that speed)
