Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

11 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

Outcome without a verified action link

Took it into the dealer, and they noted zero problems with the communications line and solved my problem within five minutes.

No unique explicit quoted action; no causal link assigned

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So the passenger window was making scrappie noises so I took the door panel off and fixed the cable. Now I got an airbag warning light. I suppose I should have disconnected the battery But nooooo I didn't . So what you I have to do to fix it?

POST 2Original post

A Durametric would / could reset the light........or you need to head to the dealer. If you don't have a Durametric this might be the time get one. Items like yours will be pay for itself in no time. Good luck.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Woot, got a line on a Durametric from an EX VW Porsche mechanic / racer friend.

POST 5Original post

They have a professional and back yard mechanic version - do they both reset Or do you need the pro version? Sent from my iPad using Rennlist

The cheaper (enthusiast version they call it) will do. "These (enthusiast version) kits were designed for the Porsche enthusiast, those that work on their own car(s). With the exception of the Coding feature*, the Enthusiast kits offer all of the same capabilities as the Professional kits."

POST 7Original post

If you have a 99 the durametric won't do ****. I bought one for that exact same reason, bought the pro cable, it wouldn't communicate with the airbag system or any of the sub systems for that fact. Durametric attempted to blame my cars communication line, I took it into the dealer and the the light was off and I was on my way within 5 minutes

POST 8Original post

I disagree with you mrm3. I had a 99 and it took care of my airbag light on a few occasions.

POST 9Original post

Agree with Pete. Sounds like you have a communication line problem (or your cable was a dud).

POST 10Original post

They sent me a replacement cable, same problem. Took it into the dealer, and they noted zero problems with the communications line and solved my problem within five minutes.

That's strange indeed and I can't explain it. However, Durametric works on the '99 996 and boxsters models in general. Otherwise, this issue would have been all over the internet by now.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
