Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I think this happened a few weeks ago when pulling into a parking lot at about 20-25mph, I heard a loud bang/snap. I immediately parked the car and took a quick look but didn't see anything wrong. The car seemed fine driving home. This last week I had the car out and something seemed off and when I came to a stop and let off the brakes I could feel the front left move a little. When I got home I pulled the front drivers side wheel and found the damage. I picked up a used arm from a salvage yard for 30 bucks and installed it this evening. I'm a little worried the coffin arm or upper strut mount may have been damaged when I drove the car with the broken arm... Anywho.. just a FYI for others out there.

POST 3Original post

was your car ever winched onto a flatbed and they didn't use the screw in bumper tow hook?

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Not that I know of. I've only owned the car for about 9 months though. I recently installed coilovers and I'm positive everything was fine then.

POST 5Original post

That's a strange break point. There has to be an explanation for the failure to occur outside of a mounting location on either end of the control arm. I've seen bolts shear, joints fail, but unless you (or a PO) hit something at 30mph+ I don't see how that happens. Good job finding a replacement part for that price!

POST 6Original post

An acquaintance had one break like that sometime after the car had been pulled up on a flatbed. He wasn't there when it was picked up. The flatbed driver winched the car up by attaching the cable to that arm.
