You mention setting the seat for left knee bend - then move the back forward - have you adjusted your steering wheel front-back distance at all?

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I've had the car for a few weeks now and I'm finding that I have a lot pain in my right knee. I'm pretty sure it has to do with my seating setup and I've tried to adjust it but to no avail. The general approach I've taken is to setup the seat to have a slight bend in my LEFT knee at full clutch pressed down. Then moved the seat back forward so that the edges of my palms are touching the steering wheel. Otherwise, trying to keep the seat as low as possible. Anyone else run into this?

POST 2Original post

Ran into something similar, and the solution for me was to do the GT3 Console Delete. Have you looked in to it at all?

oh interesting. I havent. Curious, is it that you found the gas pedal too close to the sidewall?

Only time my right knee gets sore is after Auto Crossing and that's from my knee banging off of the console due to rapid direction changes. I'm going to try a sports knee pad! AX well worth the bruises! Seriously sounds to me like you have your seat back too far. For performance driving I've always read you should be able to drape your wrists over the top of the steering wheel with your shoulders on the seat back. Stop stomping on the loud pedal...😜

I do, but I take it with a bit of a grain of salt. I am 6'5" 210lbs with size 13 shoes. The car in general has wonky ergonomics for me. I usually just wear narrow shoes when driving it.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks guys. Id really prefer not to delete the middle console. I guess I need to do some more playing around with the seat

POST 7Original post

Without knowing anything about your medical history, Id guess youre not getting adequate support from your seats. If you cant adjust the seat base angle with your seats, consider upgrading to full power to get more thigh support. You can get the same benefit from a folded towel, or something like this: Amazon seat extender support Amazon seat extender support

If the issue is no room between the steering wheel and the center console pads (that was my issue - 6'2" and felt very cramped). I went with this for the driver seat: https://extendmyseat.com/porsche-911...seat-brackets/ Yes - they are expensive - but they got me more space between me and the steering wheel - more room for me knees as my legs are more extended. Much more comfortable. When I purchased the car - it was in the Houston area. I flew out, drove it back to Atlanta over two days. My right knee was NOT happy. Now - I don't have that issue anymore. -Tom

Thanks, this actually looks like something that might help. I do think there's a lack of support under me knees. I'm 5'10 so I don't think its an issue of being too tall or too big for the seat.

POST 10Original post

Quotes source post: 19085332

Have you ever injured your right knee in the past? Any arthritis in your family? I'm 6'2" 200#'s with a 36 inch inseam and have no discomfort problems. Besides that I'm 73 years old.

POST 11Original post

The console delete is actually a popular modification done by many. I think its reversible? My 1988 Carrera had it by default. It feels like a lot more space. If all else fails, the car could be making an existing issue worse, especially the longer time we spend in that position. Ive had back pain and knee pain come and go. When I go to my chiropractor and he shows me some stretches, or a way to strengthen a weak muscle, it nearly always resolves my pain.

POST 12Original post

Take note of where your right heel is sitting on the floor. I’m fairly tall (6’1”, with mulitiple knee injuries/surgeries over the years) and notice I tend to let my right heel move more to the centreline of the floor, which places knees in a more splayed position. When I move my heel over towards throttle pedal, it forces the knee into a more natural bend. Hard to explain in words.

POST 13Original post

While Im not tall, my legs are bigger and the GT3 console delete solved most of my issues. Having worn cartilage and tendinitis in both my knees, I found that I had to shift my foot angle on the pedal. With that said the console delete really made things easier.

Easily reversible, which makes it all that more attractive.

Where did you get your carbon fiber horseshoe? Looks great! I know there's been a few recent carbon fiber threads, but might as well get a direct answer from someone in the know. Thanks

POST 16Original post

I'm 6'3'' 230 ish and I used to get some knee pain. The center delete helped a lot. Also, the smaller MOD 07 wheel and better seats also made a dramatic difference. I actually have to push my seat forward a few clicks to get into the correct driving position, vs being in the furthest back position all the time with the stock seats. I have plenty of space now. I used to get knee fatigue after 1.5 to 2 hrs of driving. Now I can go long distances without any issues. Its way more comfortable now too, with plenty of back support. I drove it 1200 miles in April over one week with no issues. **** pictures, but the setup:

Hey brother my car came with a full carbon interior to include the center console, its all OEM.

POST 18Original post

I echo Diddys thoughts on the GT3 recarro seats. Very comfortable for a long drive versus the oem seats. Seems to put you in the right position. You can adjust the lumbar pads for various level of support and buy more (which I did) to have more adjustment options. Pretty simple system. You don't have to pay the premium for GT3 seats. Many of the guys get the same thing with various recarro designs. Consider getting rid of the carpet pad on the drivers side. It may help. The carpet is pretty tall which adjusts your foot height up, not to mention can tangle up your heels depending what type of shoes you wear when driving the car. I usually wear my sambas or pumas driving around town. Omp or sparco racing shoes when on the track. Thinner, no heal shoes work best to get your foot lower. I also went to a Rennline aluminum track mat a long time ago. Not only are they easy to clean, but they put my foot at the right height. Try taking your drivers side carpet pad out and see how it feels on the knee and leg.

You mention setting the seat for left knee bend - then move the back forward - have you adjusted your steering wheel front-back distance at all? And I do agree with many about heel placement - if incorrect - it places additional twist motion on the knee - causing pain. -Tom

Hey man - thanks! I have the carbon fiber shift **** and e-brake so it would be great to find some other oem bits to match. Sorry to derail the discussion ...
