That's not really my issue and I've seen those used interchangeably, despite who did the work.
Leading evidence: 'Use interchangeably, despite who did the work' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace current muffler boxes' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I'll be upgrading my mufflers come spring and replacing my current muffler boxes, which one of the previous owners has modified with the Fister mod.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

It has worked well on the 3 mounting points for the muffler mounting plates.
I'll be upgrading my mufflers come spring and replacing my current muffler boxes, which one of the previous owners has modified with the Fister mod. I think the sound is good, but the execution of the fister mod is quite bad and there is some bad rust happening in the area around the clamp. One of the parts affected by rust which might not be savable is the small flared pipe to which the exhaust tip is attached. Looking around I wasn't able to find if you can purchase the pipe piece only. I will be reusing the tips so do not need new ones. Image below for reference.
I have only ever seen them sold as an assembled tip. U may be able to get one form dc auto that has a good pipe and a bad tip?
Also the pipe is stainless so it should not rust, the clamps r coated crap metal so they r junk. Chances r the flang is fine.
Thanks Aaron. Good call on DC Auto. I haven't taken it apart yet so you are probably right about the clamps. The one on there know looks horrible and will need to be cut most likely. I've ordered all new hardware so good there and hope the flange will be reusable.
Not sure it is fair to call this the Fister mod in your case, it sounds like it was done by a local muffler shop, the reason i say that is i just had FD motorsports do the Fister mod, " the F stands for Fister" and the welding is exceptional as was the turnaround and the customer service, that mod is called different things by different people, in the UK i think they call it the Gundo hack, i would highly reccomend Darin at Fister Motorsports based on my very recent transaction.
I mean sure, fister, gundo, or whatever other name has been given to it. That's not really my issue and I've seen those used interchangeably, despite who did the work. In my case, the welding job was done pretty poorly. Very aware of Fister and they're absolutely great but I'm going a slightly different direction.
Not a great photo, but this is the old and new hardware for my car. I was shocked how corroded the clamps were, especially for the muffler tips. I ended up cutting them off, but the pipes and such were just fine underneath.
Thanks for those images! The clamps connecting the CATs are not too bad on my car but those bands are just as bad. Once fitted I might apply some anti-seize in hopes of preventing that in the future. It has worked well on the 3 mounting points for the muffler mounting plates.
I know you plan to reuse your tips, but I'll put these stainless tips out there as food for thought (quality is very good in my experience):

Thanks for the lead on these! I might be in the minority but I much prefer the oval tips I have. Something about dual tips coming from a single exhaust pipe turns me off
I think it might be the ones I have on the 40AE - not sure of the option code. I kind of also like the similar approach to current cars. Most Carreras with standard exhaust get dual pipes while sport exhaust gets the big oval ones. To each their own though since it's pure aesthetics.
