Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi tried to search this without any luck forgive me if it's posted already. Does anyone know which wire combo/ colors in the rear wire harness are for the license plate lights? I installed a Ducktail and got the brake lights spoiler activation light all sorted just can't seem to figure out the license plate lights assume they draw power from that harness because they worked previously. Be easier to know for certain and no the wires from the lp lights don't match to any in my harness for anything. Working on it tonight.

POST 2Original post

They come from the driver side of the harness and the pop through the tub about 3" to the right of the latch. The wing harness comes from the pass side. Sounds like a coincedence if the plate lights r out. Pull the air box and u can test light the wires, they will be the only 2 going through the gromet or pull the lenses and test the light socket. Not sure in the positive wire but the ground will be brown. If no power check the fuse first. Then there is always the headlight switch because they always fail?

POST 3Original post

PM me with your email and I can send you a DropBox link with the wiring diagrams

POST 4Original post

The file I attached may help a bit...or not...but worth a shot (It's the wiring diagram cheat sheet I made when I did my tiptronic to manual wiring swap. License plate lights are on page 1A). Also, I think it was/is @RennKit-Dave that has posted these diagrams on line, which may be of more help. https://rennkit.com/wp-content/uploa...996-Wiring.pdf
