We've had listings on eBay literally for years :-) We started selling on there after having calls from several who bought from other ebay sellers getting damaged parts, pre-installed kits, or kits that weren't complete and wanted to give those looking for a deal an option.
Leading evidence: 'Install kits, or kits' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Install kits, or kits' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Use an alternate brand name for ebay (so they don't cheapen their premium name) to sell the product at a discount to those who just won't pay full retail or fall for the costly "certified installer" program.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Its interesting that the seller almost exclusively sells LN products and they ship from the same city that they are located.
They even sell Jakes dvd.
It’s their eBay store location soooo ….
the only caveat is no free tool rental and some installers will not use your bought solution
so my delemma is locating a certified installer near me in nyc
Mike
Thats LN Engineerings ebay store?
I wonder why theyre selling the Solution at a $500 discount?
There's not too many certified installers near NYC.
It will be interesting to see if any of them will allow you to bring your own parts.
I would guess if you fail pre-qualification you can find someone to take it off your hands.
Or get a non certified installer to put it in. Doesnt seem to difficult.
The difference is no one near me
I didn’t buy to sell it without trying to find a competent tech
the last round they sold 11 this time 10 are available
so at least 20 people know something
Yup. Multi-faceted business model to reach the greatest possible range of customers. Very high margin product likely greater than 80% at full retail. Create a "certified installer" program which basically has the manufacturer conspire with indy's to sell product exclusively at full price and add a minimum of five extra hours of labor. Use an alternate brand name for ebay (so they don't cheapen their premium name) to sell the product at a discount to those who just won't pay full retail or fall for the costly "certified installer" program. Back this all up with a short warranty period including a five page long list of exclusions in the event of failure.
Kind of sucks for those who paid full price so the manufacturer will likely chime in here on the forum that the discount is for product from their scratch and dent inventory as the reason for the discount and sorry, doesn't include tool rental. These bearings are made inhouse with the entire kit likely costing less than $200. The inventor's royalty is likely greater.
Btw, if you keep the bearing in your ebay watch list for a couple days they will offer you an additional discount.
That’s Charles Navarro’s eBay account.
He sells returns on eBay.
If you’re doing the IMS Solution yourself, that’s the best place to buy it IMHO.
I bought my IMS tools, including the IMS Solution tools from him.
Saved a ton!
I guess the free enterprise system is wrong. There are cheaper choices out there. Some ok. Some not. All of those types seem to have a maintenance issue. To me The Solution is the only one and done choice.
Or don't worry about your original bearing. Suffer sleepless nights. Cringe every time you start your car. Wait for it to blow up then realizing you just increased your costs immensely.
Everybody is free to make choices...
You sound like a conspiracy theorist. Bearings made in house? I highly doubt that... LN knows their business well, and bearing manufacturing is not their business... Create a certified installer program to conspire with indy's to add labor costs - You don't think that would have anything to do with trying to make sure your product that cost hundreds of thousands of dollars to develop is installed properly? Pffft... All types of companies do this with their products and/or services - and yes maximizing profits IS one of their goals - it's generally why people go into business (regardless of what else they may tell you). The rest of your list reads like a bunch of whiney drivel from someone who either payed full price and is now pissed about it, or someone who bought a Porsche but can't afford to take care of it...
First - To the OP, I do think the "Solution" is the best option and congrats on a great deal. I have no doubt ANY Indy could easily install it, so you might consider going that route and you might save even more $$.
Sure, but here on Rennlist it's not like other forums I'm a part of. I'm on Overlanding and Off Road forums and a little bit of MX. These forums discuss many competing products, are much more constructive, yet are not dominated by their sponsors or related parties* and certainly don't stifle other options, opinions, or shout down and berate. I went with a cylindrical bearing because it makes sense from a load perspective and didn't require cutting the block and rerouting oil, but most importantly, it has zero failures. By zero failures, I don't just mean claimed failures, I mean searching all the groups, googling, FB, etc, I can't find any, none, zero, by any maker. So it's a much cheaper option, has thousands of installs and it has the same exact record as the "Solution" right? Here's the questions that are never answered: "If the "Solution" is so robust, foolproof and permanent, why the expensive prequal?" And why is the warranty void if I self install? All those thousands of cylindrical bearings that aren't failing don't have this "prequal" requirement yet they are not freely discussed. I can't think of any other car part, brand, etc that has such a requirement.
* I get the related parties, the sponsor, the inventor, his video guy, etc, they all have skin to defend, but then there is the usual "peanut gallery", a phenomenon of a level unique to Rennlist, that stoops to berating and name calling. Maybe it's all they know.
Here's a video that should help alleviate your doubt about my "conspiracy theory" of where the bearings are made.
You Tube
Hmmm, now I'm wondering, who will be next to respond? Will it be the sponsor? Will it be the inventor? A related party? Or maybe someone from the peanut gallery?

There would probably be more the 24 certified installer in the USA if it was a conspiracy.
For me, the certified installer program was a blessing.
It put me in contact with an independent Porsche specialist that I probably never would have found because they dont need to advertise.
A shop with great people who really know the 996.
The pre-certification was the invasive PPI that I wasnt able to get when I bought my car.
It was really great to see no bore scoring haha.
And I did research the alternatives.
The plain bearing of the Solution made more sense to me than the DOF that retains a ball bearing.

Its the retrofit bearings I was referencing (ceramic ball bearings &/or roller bearings)...
In the video, thats The Solution & of course they make that, as they developed it along with FSI/Jake Raby... How much do you think it costs to develop and manufacture something like that? I wonder how many they dent & scratch so they can sell them on the cheap...
Any more conspiracies
Yours Truly,
the peanut gallery
This has been brought up before. We've had listings on eBay literally for years :-) We started selling on there after having calls from several who bought from other ebay sellers getting damaged parts, pre-installed kits, or kits that weren't complete and wanted to give those looking for a deal an option. These do not qualify for free tool rental and units sold are new but can be a open box / return (from wholesaler) that has been inspected and repackaged. It can also be a blemished unit with some sort of cosmetic issue that means we cannot sell them full price. If you want to save a few dollars, here you go.
I still appreciate you offering a deep discount thank you 🙏 I didn’t mean to start a civil war
ownership of a 20+ year old car has costs that continually climb so wherever I can save keeps my car on the road a little longer
Suggest maybe reading the title of the thread before you post, then comment from there. You had it backwards. Those ceramic bearings you miss-referenced are less than $30, then add the flange etc for a few more dollars, yet LN sells them for $900 with a poor warranty and there are many reports of failures. An odd combination of high price, poor performance and a weak warranty. Even a $200 Pelican bearing has fewer failures. In fact I haven't seen any reports of a Pelican failure, not that I would choose it though.
My guess at R&D costs? Since you asked: $100-200k, but there are many variables. Still that's only $10-20/unit. Yet they keep increasing the price. Must be inflation, that and 80% margins are not enough.
Hey, hey, you don't like clowns?
