Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

The only "dirt" the plastic that covers the gage faces gets is dust and when it gets dusty I use a soft bristle paint brush to gently brush the dust off the plastic and off the radio and A/C LCD faces, too.

Not only did she go running out to check - while shouting "Aw, HELL no," I was able to get everyone else from the office outside to mock her during her walk of shame back to her desk.

Once I realized that leaving greasy finger prints on the bottles of disinfectant left her so conflicted that she'd hyperventilate while staring at the situation ("how can I use the cleaner to clean the cleaner if the cleaner isn't clean?

To clean the inside you have to take apart the gauge cluster.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I just noticed that the gauges need a good cleaning and was wondering how to get the plastic surround off from around the gauges. Just to clarify I am not speaking of the actual gauge face but the clear plastic in front of the actual gauge face. Thanks in advance.

Afterwards the brush goes back in its "holder" ( a folded cardboard like wrapper) until next time.
BTW, I have a brush at the office I use to brush away the dust that collects on my office PC's dual LCD display and on my office laptops.
Not that surprised...
OK, this is kind of pushing it...
...and you've just blown past "Rain Man" into full-blown Monk territory. I wish I worked with you - I think I could really find satisfaction in messing with you. I think a mix of cat hair and graham cracker crumbs would make a nice daily addition to your keyboards.
I (briefly) worked with a crazy-*** obsessive clean-freak receptionist. She scrubbed the veneer off of her desk. She was terrified of germs to the point that she would wrap fresh paper towels around everything on her desk every day before leaving...so of course I made it my life's work to make it OBVIOUS that everything on her desk had been touched overnight. Once I realized that leaving greasy finger prints on the bottles of disinfectant left her so conflicted that she'd hyperventilate while staring at the situation ("how can I use the cleaner to clean the cleaner if the cleaner isn't clean? OH GOD NO, THE CLEANER ISN'T CLEAN! *pant* *gasp*")
You need to switch to de-caff...
I'm not a neat freak, just want to take proper care of expensive and hard to renew items.
Many LCD makers advise against using any cleaners to avoid clouding the LCD surface. And wiping it down even with water can scratch the surface.
My Boxster's gage plastic and radio and A/C displays are as clear as the day I bought the car home from the dealer.
Decaf? No way, man, that defeats the purpose.
I can see the words you've written - "I'm not a neat freak" - but they seem incongruous with other words (I keep a paint brush in its cardboard holder to dust my car with."
You get bonus points for being as wacky as James May.
5chn3ll, you and I would get along well. I LOVE it when a friend or co-worker lets it slip that they're a germaphobe, afraid of clowns, or something along those lines. I think two things to myself:
1) You know me, why would you tell me that?
2) LET THE GAMES BEGIN!
Heh. Once in a while, one of my employees will try to punk me. On one occasion, an employee had yanked my chain pretty well, so I owed her one. Not long thereafter, she bought her first new car ever - a GMC Yukon, a complete beast of a vehicle - of which she was really proud. I waited.
About a month later, she was sitting at the reception desk when my accomplice - our VERY straight-laced, no-nonsense mailman, asked her if we'd seen that the parking lot was full of cops and a news crew...who were all checking out the trash truck that managed to drop the dumpster he was emptying onto a Yukon. Not only did she go running out to check - while shouting "Aw, HELL no," I was able to get everyone else from the office outside to mock her during her walk of shame back to her desk.
Yes, I will expend FAR too much time, effort, and money to mess with people.
When are we going to break it to 5CHN3LL that all 318 pages of the GWIT996F Thread was all one, big punk...and nobody thought any of that **** was funny?
Except of course for Gonzo911's posts. That dude is funny!
So, I'm just wondering, how is that plastic getting dirty anyway?
I smoke in the car (my pipe), and the garage is pretty dusty, and the dash by the windshield is dusty with ash, but the gauges are still fine.
What is going on that they would be dusty?
Or is someone keeping it showroom ready for the next event where a 996 would be best in show?
You are fortunate to work for a business that allows you to waste not only your time but that of other employees as well.
I see no walk of shame on the woman's part. She was led to believe that something had happened to her new car and she reacted as many would only to find out that nothing had happened other than you encouraged a mailman to lie for you.
You are a toxic employee and if it was my office you'd be likely out of a job after a few more of your awful shenanigans.
Yeah, maybe windows are different. I've had the top down for at least half of the 12000 miles I put on this year. Windows may direct the air differently and get that part of the car more dusty?
I own the business, I wouldn't mess with someone who wouldn't enjoy it, and I avoid hiring people who would rate a brilliantly executed counter-punk that took a total of 5 minutes to execute "an awful shenanigan." The poor woman who encountered this soul-crushing experience was laughing and gave me a high-five when she realized she'd been owned.
I'm a toxic employee because my emploees enjoy having fun and I encourage it?
Lighten up, Francis. All work and no play makes Macster a dull boy.
