Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

9 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Horn stopped working and I found out that the PO replaced it with an air horn. The original connectors have been cut, so no need to replace with OEM ones. Only one of the connectors is being used to power the horn. What is the besting sounding aftermarket horns for our cars? Also, the horn only used one set of connectors (original had two hours). Does the factory alarm use any of the horns? Have not heard the alarm even when arming or disarming the car.

Just with ref to arming and disarming the car alarm./ The horn should not sound if everything is working correctly. If you hear the horn sound then that indicates that something is not closed correctly ie:- engine lid, frunk lid. center console compartment lid. Either of the doors. However you should see the yellow front indicator lights flash twice on locking up the car.

If you go to the Ritz Carlton every Sunday for brunch and wear a handkerchief in your suit pocket and want the most refined sound, then the Hella dual tone horn will meet your criteria. OTOH, if you just want peeps to get the hell out of your way as fast as possible, wire up a few '67 Buick horns in parallel and mount them by the front bumper openings. I've had good experiences with both air horn Hella's and regular dual tone Hellas(red colored ones). With that said, I very much like the OEM Porsche horns too (think they might be Hella's too)

Train horn. Installed in all my vehicles. The ONLY way to go. I don't always beep my horn, but when I do somebody shats.

POST 7Original post

I heard the if you put air horns facing backwards underneath the car its good for at least an effective 5 hp increase when they are on. kind of like a poor mans NOS system

My father put a big rig horn in a Volvo that had a transplanted 302 Ford engine. It was hilarious seeing those reactions. For anyone else I recommend this one:
