Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

9 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I grew up on an island that never had a race track, at least not when I was old enough to drive. (Oahu) What would be the easiest way to find a venue, class, or event that I could learn to track my 966? Is it as easy as just signing up for the PCA and look for meet ups? Thanks

POST 2 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I also wanted to know, what tools and equipment a beginnger should bring along? Torque wrench, sockets, rachets, oil, etc. Really looking to track my 911 now that I live somewhere with an active coummunity. (Irvine)

POST 3Original post

Sign up for your local PCA chapter and you'll find everything you need.

POST 4Original post

Join the local BMW chapter too. At least in my area there is a lot of overlap and I find the BMW chapter is run better

POST 6Original post

You are in Zone 8 (same as me). LOTS of DE events. As stated above, become a PCA member. I think that the San Diego region will allow Orange County people to join our region, which has an autocross every month at Qualcomm, numerous DE events, and Performance Driving School (PDS). Your region has many events too. I would suggest doing PDS first, then a few Autocrosses, then DE (big track events). Everyone here is extremely helpful to and supportive of new drivers. We have a PDS Friday, Oct 16 — Sunday, Oct 18, I'll be working as a tech at it, but I think registration is closed.

POST 8Original post

also check MotorsportReg.com you can also check with Coyote, Chin, Trackmaster, SCCA, I'm sure a google search will help dial in a few events with the west coast groups. As for your first event, probably don't need much, but a good attitude, an ability to listen to your instructor, not try to show him how fast you are, cuz your not! Water, hat, sunscreen, maybe a bit of sugar, like M&M's as your brain need sugar to process information, especially during complex thinking......a chair would help, and a tire pressure gauge. It would be a good idea to start monitoring selected, simple data points, to help you progress. Certainly a good helmet, and most regions, after the first event will require a solid mount fire extinguisher....oh yeah, and your log book, unless you do it electronically..... as for wrenches, oil, sockets, torque wrenches, jacks, jack stands, spare lugs nuts, impact wrenches, .......you can wait a while for that, but once the hook goes in, the slope is super slippery........the car can only hold so much, then you need a trailer, for the sticky tires, but wait, what about a tow vehicle, as you can see it just keep going......enjoy the simplicity, while it lasts....just get out there and have some fun.

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The car came with some goodies when I boght it. Bra, fire extinguisher, lap counter, and a set of 18" kinesis k28's wrapped in toyo r888's. I have a 2500HD I could tow the car with, but no trailer yet. It's hard having toys when I don't have a house yet. (Condo) Thanks for all the input so far!
