Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

12 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

'99 C2 - had a bit of a wobble in the rear end around corners. Figured I would start off with replacing the control arms. Started with the rear driver's side -- got it apart and went for the obligatory "compare old with new". First thought was Dang, must have ordered the wrong thing. After some poking around it seems like I have the right part and the old one was less than optimum. Original part is 996.341.143.03. New part is Meyle 4160500024. Is something not right here? One of these things is not like the other 4 that I bought.

POST 3Original post

Wow, that bend looks like it should have been a "break".

POST 4Original post

Get an alignment now that you’ve replaced it!

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Other side looks a bit more like I expected. The bent one has a notch/chunk on what would have been the outside bottom. I saw a YouTube video of one of the P.O.s talking about how he enjoyed working on this car with his son. Wondering if the lesson that day was "Where not to put the jack". Possibly followed by a change of shorts. TexSquirrel -- alignment is in the plans, wondering if I should just suck it up and get a set of Feals. DOH!

POST 6Original post

Had the same issue on my 996. Not sure what happend or if it was already on the car when I bought it some months ago...

POST 7Original post

good chance that someone tried to tow it with a hook around these, you see tow truck drivers do it all the time.

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

They would do such evil on the rear? I could see on the front but there must be better ways to break things going backwards.. Then again, there's some scraping on the front that suggests perhaps someone went off in search of shrubbery. Maybe that's related

POST 10Original post

Wow! echoed. This is why I hate letting anyone else touch my car. My wife thinks I'm crazy.

POST 11Original post

Now that I think of it, I've had mine on a flat bed twice since I've owned it. Need to take a closer look.

POST 12Original post

On my 20 year old 996 the front ones looked like that. On the left a nearly new one.
