Thinking this was the LN Engineering kit, I triple checked I bought the right one according to LN engineering, even bought another one and realized promptly mine is completely different!

Also seems like one of the O rings needs to be replaced anyways (slight oil weep around the area) but im at a loss as to what the kit is, and where this mysterious oil line connects to.

Could be my weird oil pressure issue is infact being caused by the sending unit which a replacement should arrive tomorrow and was going to do that anyway.

Its only recently become an issue when I went to change my oil for the 2nd time since ownership, bought what I thought was the correct oil filter and realized it didnt fit.

Suggestion
If you wanted to bypass stock OP gauge and run an external gauge - you could use this fitting which would adapt a 1/8 NPT (common aftermarket oil p sensor) to your current filter adapter and line.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Looking for some help identifying the mysterious and elusive (and honestly a pain in the ***) spin on oil filter adapter that my car came with when I purchased it. Ive scoured the web trying to find another adapter that
is not the LN engineering
adapter and I have come up empty. Its only recently become an issue when I went to change my oil for the 2nd time since ownership, bought what I thought was the correct oil filter and realized it didnt fit. The car had a Mahle oil filter on it previously but the part number had rubbed off when I removed it. Thinking this was the LN Engineering kit, I triple checked I bought the right one according to LN engineering, even bought another one and realized promptly mine is completely different! The spin on adapter I have has some type of external oil feed line connecting to it, and the LN engineering one does not, its also a different design. I was able to find an oil filter that fit the threads but noticed my oil pressure is behaving weirdly since I changed it, and the car is parked until I can figure this out. Ive considered just buying the LN kit and replacing it since this one but not sure what to do about the oil line connecting to it? Also seems like one of the O rings needs to be replaced anyways (slight oil weep around the area) but im at a loss as to what the kit is, and where this mysterious oil line connects to.
Has anyone ever seen this type of spin on adapter before and could help me identify where this oil feed line comes from? I figure if I can find the kit online somewhere, I can determine where that hose comes from and if its necessary.
Thank you in advance!
Looks like the LN SPOFA used in the IMS kit they sell, also available discretely here.

From the LN site, that adapter uses
Napa Gold 1348/1068 or Wix 51348/51068
As for the line, follow it, likely goes to the IMS Bearing.
PS - They
also have all the O rings and line you need listed on the spare parts for IMS solution page, should get you sorted.

As you know, it looks like an LN. Agreed that the oil line might go to the IMS bearing at the front of the engine. I also believe you are having trouble getting the filter to spin on. You used the recommended NAPA filter?
This is the best place to find an answer.
Maybe Charles from LN can provide some insight. Have you reached out to them with this question?
Wow, okay - I feel a little stupid now
I will check what filter I was able to get to fit and probably just replace it with the correct one. Im not sure how I missed this...
Could be my weird oil pressure issue is infact being caused by the sending unit which a replacement should arrive tomorrow and was going to do that anyway. I know my car had the LN IMS solution but it seems like the previous owner went for the full kit which makes me happy!
Thank you!
That's a pretty common failure. My oil pressure has been bouncing a bit lately and has randomly started to drop to 0 and then waking up. It's an easy fix and I'll be replacing mine this weekend too.
Interesting - I saw this quite frequently when I was researching the issue but mine just reads high when its just started up, and after getting oil up to temp it doesnt like to go past 4.2bar on the gauge. Like it gets stuck at the exact same spot, not fluctuating really at all which makes me think its failed. Heard it was an easy job so Ill post back when Ive done mine.
If you wanted to bypass stock OP gauge and run an external gauge - you could use this fitting which would adapt a 1/8 NPT (common aftermarket oil p sensor) to your current filter adapter and line. Would be 5 min install compared to stock replacement.

Im a butt hurt for Stack gauges, I’d go with this and you know your pressure readings are accurate.
https://www.autometer.com/oil-press-...E&gclsrc=aw.ds
This would be awesome! Just curious on how folks have mounted it? I'd prefer to keep the interior as stock-looking as possible and not sure where you'd mount this. I'm not really a fan of those A pillar gauge pods and I think it'd look really out of place with the 996 stock interior...
If it were me, I’d get creative and do something custom. The bolt in solutions are not clean enough for someone wanting to maintain a stock interior.
Bolt in option, lack of visibility would be a no go for me:
And yeah Aaron, stack gauges so cool. Back in the day before they were bought by autometer their stuff was pretty rare over here, and wicked expensive.
In my younger days I dreamt of putting the dash logger in, this is way, way before the growth of enthusiast reasonable displays had become a reality.
And BTW Devin, any gauge solution with a 1/8NPT sensor will work, with some hunting you may be able to find a cleaner solution. Good luck either way !
I'll probably just stick with the stock gauge on the dash. Doesn't bother me reading out in bar instead of psi, and I already bought the oil pressure sending unit part to replace mine. Either way, should hopefully fix it! Thanks for all the great suggestions.
Ive posted on another thread but there is a trim panel for the manual HVAC controls that has 3 circle openings for $8. Not sure of their diameter but it could be worth exploring.
