I just replaced the driver side door latch assembly on my 2001 Porsche 911 Cabriolet, because the window was not dropping. It fixed the window dropping, but now I am unable to lock the car.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I just replaced the driver side door latch assembly on my 2001 Porsche 911 Cabriolet, because the window was not dropping. It fixed the window dropping, but now I am unable to lock the car. Neither the key fob, nor the manual way work. It clicks twice and then honks, but stays unlocked. However when you open the door, the alarm goes off. So, for some reason the door lock stays unlocked at all times. Has someone else had this issue, or does anyone know how to fix this? Do I have to reprogram the car, to the new door latch? Thanks

POST 2Original post

I would go back in and verify that everything mechanical and electrical are properly connected. You don't have to reprogram the car for a new latch.

POST 3Original post

Everything has to be perfect, particularly the bar that goes from the outer handle door lock cylinder to the door latch. Read up here https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...-detailed.html
